I offered her forward, hoping you’d changed.
Hoping to praise the new man you became.
For as much as you think that I hate your existence,
All I’ve ever desired is that you’d love, no resistance.
I’ve prayed that you’d melt at the sight of her eyes,
Express what you feel without any lies.
I’ve begged you to love her and make her your queen.
Fight hard to repent for shattering her dreams.
Beg her to shift and forget all you’ve done.
Make you face all your lies,all the damage you’ve done.
A chance undeserved that few ever receive,
placed at your feet by the one you deceived.
Grudges aside for the sake of our child,
The one you neglected as you raged and ran wild.
See for all that you lacked, those voids I filled in.
Never lead her to suffer from what could have been.
I made sure she knew I could play every role.
Her mother, her father, her warmth from the cold.
That I’d wipe every tear and bask in her joy.
Protect her and guide her, every option deploy.
By God’s saving grace I can honestly say,
She’s lacking for nothing. Unstained by your ways.
The day you reached out it tore at my heart.
Plagued by the memories of how you tore hers apart.
An innocent angel who needed us both,
whose suffered and wept from the path that you chose,
I held her close and soothed all her wounds.
She’s amazing and bold, no thanks to you.
So now though unworthy, you’ve been given this chance,
It’s time to step up, lose your old song and dance.
Finally prove that you’re more than a clown.
That you see all she’s worth, acknowledge her crown.
Try to make up for some of the pain.
Attempt to live up to the title you claim.
And never forget for as nice as I am.
That’s my baby, my queen. For her I would maim.
You’re dangling on strings, borrowed time that you’ve bought.
No hesitation, I’ll cut them, no thought.
Forgiving and patient and I’d love you to win.
But remember you’re here because I let you back in.
Step up to the plate and for once be a man.
Your last chance, you’re now in it, I’ve done all I can.
16 years by my side while you barely existed.
Minimal efforts, as hers you’ve resisted.
Sob stories, excuses, your barrel of lies.
She’s the child, you’re the parent. Open your eyes.
Stop playing the victim while you spew all you crave.
Accept its your karma. You’ve dug your own grave.
All this time that you’ve wasted with so much to prove,
Unaffected by guilt or what you would lose,
I hope that you see that my patience’s worn thin.
That I’m biting my tongue as I greet you with grins.
I allow you to enter with the hope that you’ve grown.
Just don’t forget that you’re minor,we were fine on our own.
Not a dollar I asked for.
I made her whole by myself.
While you tossed her aside like some junk on a shelf.
But believe me your absence was never an issue.
No need for comfort or a tear wiping tissue.
Be aware that you’re nothing and even now still,
I’ve glued all the pieces, there’s none left to fill.
She’s whole and she’s brilliant, so full of surprise.
Loving and kind. Vibrance spills from her eyes.
Her heart’s full of love and she fills me with pride.
She’s achieved every milestone without you by her side.
Once again I’ll repeat though it falls on deaf ears.
It’s the last chance you have to make up for those years.
Nothing you do will erase the time wasted.
Stop pointing fingers. It’s time that you face it.
Be the father you failed to and for that fight to be,
Or admit you fall short, and PLEASE set her free.
