Only a few movies remind me of my Dad. I can’t tell you how many times we watched the Sandlot. I think it reminded him of growing up in Brookfield playing ball all summer long with a cast of characters he talked about until the day he died. To me that was quintessential James Earl Jones. I know he will be remembered for Darth but the Americana of the sandlot was my fav. I’m not big on Hollywood types but he sure seemed like a solid man.

Thanks to my BFF Kyle the Cat lives. This was one of many cool sleds my dad had when I was a kid. If there was snow on the ground and he had enough cocktails I could talk him into letting me tear up the neighborhood fields. In summer we would ask the local farmers if they needed help with chores so we could use their fields in winter. A pretty cool trade off.

Happy Labor Day weekend! Short story. I was out of the radio game for a long time. I picked up fill in work, used the social media platforms to make some$$ and scraped along for a long time. Never gave up. Never doubted people that made bad decisions that effected my lively hood. Started working for two very good people in KC at KCMO in Donna Baker and Pete Mundo. Then had a chance to come back to WLS and take over mornings there with a really good crew of people. This economy is tough the business I’m in is getting tougher. If you feel left behind keep moving. You’re gonna be fine. I’m a work in progress but I still wake up every morning with out an alarm ready to crush it.

Radio isn’t heavy lifting. But it’s a hard way to make an easy living. Enjoy this weekend for what you do for a living. This country survives on the shoulders of the working man and woman!

Enjoy the day. Never doubt who you are!
