We support Burlesque that embraces all body types, genders, ages and ethnicities. Older performers are an integral part of the Burlesque scene and are helping change preconceptions about the aging female body. There is not one type of “Burlesque body”. VIVA Burlesque! social media will encourage body positivity and showcase all types of performers. V = Variety
Burlesque is constantly evolving and VIVA Burlesque! intends to surprise and delight you. We’ll explore the variety of Burlesque: classic, neo, boylesque, comedic, and Burlesque involving aerials, song, acrobatics, and much more. Of course we will showcase performances, but we’ll also present in-depth interviews with the world’s most fascinating Burlesque stage personalities, costume designers, makeup artists, and fans. They will tell their personal stories, reveal their perspectives on life, share details about makeup, hairstyles, costume design, fitness, and teach Burlesque techniques. A= Art
VIVA Burlesque! honors the art of burlesque. Its artistry is under-appreciated and unfairly dismissed by many as s*x club dancing. We acknowledge that Burlesque occupies a realm between public and private, between art and eroticism, between real and fantasy. These are universal themes of high art, and we will work to present Burlesque as vital and thriving performance art deserving equivalent respect. Through the lens of erotic dance, art, and politics, we will explore the bare-naked truth about Burlesque, our common humanity and our essential s*xual nature … in all its exotic diversity.
