I was invited by .dunlap to step into the role of Art Director for some of the scenes shot here in Detroit of her upcoming movie. It was a blast! In my role, I was tasked to find a quick solution to cover a 7 ft long mirror, permanently affixed above the fireplace mantle. Finding this out after 8pm and having a call time of 8am the next morning, I came up with the quickest and most inexpensive, sure fire covering I could think of. Faux paint!

I went back to my workshop that evening and pulled a scrap 4’ x 8’ sheet of melamine, cut it down to size, split it in half so it would fit in the vehicle, scuffed it up with a palm sander, pulled some white paint and silver metallic art acrylic from a previous project and applied a quick veining technique that resulted in the two large tiles you see in the pics.

It worked so well, it was as if it had never been a mirror there!
