As we come to the full realization that women in this country have lost autonomy over our bodies, that our daughters have less rights than our Grandmothers, tomorrow we will focus on a man and Organization doing amazing things in our community with the Level Up campaign and Save our Youth NOLA initiative here in New Orleans. CEO Ricky Joseph will be in the studio with us tomorrow at 5pm on La Rola Nola (on air from 4-6pm) on 102.3 FM on your radio dial or whivfm.org/listen to stream us live.
Organizations like this one give me hope.

"Save Our Youth Nola was created in 2021 by two (2) youth advocates Roderick "Ricky" Joseph, and Eyshana "Shana" Webster, with a common goal, to see a better future for underserved youth throughout New Orleans, La. Offering youth mentorship, business consultation, athletic programs, event management, and connecting youth to employment. This initiative will address the issue we as a community are experiencing involving youth, and redefine what being youthful looks like, along with creating a brighter economic system for youth of New Orleans"

and yes I LOVE that hair pick in front of Lafayette Square, it's an art installation here for a couple months with a symbol that represents black activism and power, as opposed to the symbols of Oppression/White Supremacy that were once on display in our predominantly BLACK city. What's the problem?

La Rola Nola today will be dedicated to Mrs. Dorothy Hill who passed away this week at age 93. What a long beautiful life!
She will be greatly missed by so many of us. A Great Matriarch of one of New Orleans' most well known musical families.
Our hearts are with everyone that loved her and that's MANY people.
This is show no. 1 dedicated to her. After Mardi Gras we will be an in studio LIVE recording with many musicians who loved her.
