Here's a little cheat sheet for new and older players, regarding combat in tabletop role playing games.

Bill's Rules of Engagement:

1.) Do not split the party without a strategy.

2.) Do not send the squishiest party member into combat first.

3.) Always try to use stealth and ranged attacks BEFORE your enemies know you’re there.

4.) When in doubt, let the tank go first and protect the squishy spell casters.

5.) Spellcasters should always have some ranged weapons, even if they are darts and daggers.
