OPENING WEEKEND Christian de Mesones
We’re now down to Announcing the remainder of our Opening Act for October on Catalina Island. Although we’ve never considered anybody at the JazzTrax Festival “AN OPENING ACT.” They open for the Closing Headliner, but we consider EVERYBODY a Headliner at our Fall Event. Everyone gets 90 minutes, or more, plus encore. But JazzTrax has long been famous, and sometimes ‘infamous’ for our Where Did He/She/They COME FROM Acts we always introduce you to. We had never heard of Christian until late last year and weren’t considering him until this April for our October Stage. He’ll arrive with his full 10 piece band. He is the Bassist (and Band Leader) in the Middle here.
Again we weren’t considering him, not even aware of him, and then came his very 1st Radio Hit “Hispanica.”
“Hispanica” went to No. #1 on the Billboard Smooth Jazz Chart last November
On his 2020 Album debut the song featured Vocals by Debora Galan. But the Radio Single in late 2021 instead featured a guest piano appearance, instead of vocals, by .. BOB JAMES

He may be bringing his New York based 10 piece band, with horns, for a rare West Coast date, but Christian himself attended the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood and has now been playing bass for over 40 years. (he’s apparently NOT in his 20’s … ) Becoming a Band Leader a decade ago. He describes his sound as “Smooth Grooves with a Funky Soul with a Latin Flair.”

Actually Christian’s Billboard #1 Hit above wasn’t the first single off his debut album. “Big Tall Wish” was.

This was the debut album. Came out Feb. 2020.
Kind’ve bad timing as the pandemic was just arriving and pushing us all
into a rather strange place. But finally it hit with that #1 radio single in 2021. And Christian de Mesones now arrives on the WEST Coast and the
