I would like to announce a new music project I have been working on for the last 2 years!

Since late 2020 at the latter end of the first lockdown in the UK, I started collaborating with Jake Wherry of The Herbaliser - one of the most well known acts from the Ninja Tune record label.

We had been friends for a decade and talked about writing music together in the past, but never had the opportunity as we were both busy with other work.

During the global pandemic we had some time on our hands, so when it was safe to do so, we connected and started writing our first track. This collaboration would prove to be so successful, that we decided to generate on an album’s worth of material, which we are halfway towards creating.

Fusing Jake’s globally recognised hip hop talents with my background in electronic music & synth programming, we’ve created an exciting symbiosis of styles, that has grown to become a solid song writing partnership.

Together we are known as “The Brilliant”.

During this process of collaboration, Jake was approached with a fascinating proposition from the award winning podcast - “Heavyweight”. The brief was to remix a Canadian beatboxer by the name of Chris Perry, who tragically died in a car crash at the age of just 17…

The podcast’s producers wanted to help the Perry family create a living tribute to Chris, after they thought his beatboxing had been sampled by another artist and not credited, so this new proposition could be a way to bring his material back to life and create certainty of his legacy.

As we were working together at that point, Jake suggested that we incorporate the remix into our new project “The Brilliant”, so this is the story of the family’s journey and how we became involved, including our composition: “We Are The Paradox”…
