Advocates for Clean Elections (ACE) Launches Campaign for Honest and Peaceful 2025 Elections in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY – A new coalition of civil society groups advocating for clean, transparent, and violence-free elections was formally launched on Tuesday, January 21, at Hotel De Fidez in Tacloban City. Press Statement of Police Colonel Antonietto Eric A. Mendoza, Samar PPO Provincial Director regarding the shooting incident in Calbayog City on January 11, 2025.

Earlier today, an entrapment operation was conducted by our personnel targeting individuals engaged in suspected illegal activities. During the operation, an armed confrontation occurred, resulting in injuries to both members of the operating team and one of the suspects involved. All those injured were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

I would like to personally assure the public that the operation carried was legitimate and approved by my office. Our law enforcement teams followed all necessary protocols in carrying out this operation. The operation has already concluded, and the suspects have been successfully arrested. They are currently in the custody of the Calbayog City Police Station, where they will undergo further processing.

I want to emphasize that the safety of the public is our primary concern. Our officers are fully committed to ensuring peace and security, and we will continue to work diligently to uphold the law.
