Founded in 1839, the Akron Beacon Journal is a daily newspaper that serves readers in Summit, Medina, Portage, Stark and Wayne counties. The Beacon Journal is active in founding and supporting organizations, programs and events that promote the well-being of the Greater Akron community. These include the Millennium Fund for Children, First Night Akron, the Coming Together Project, Summit Education

Initiative, United Way and Harvest for Hunger.
