Finding a hearing care professional who performs Real Ear Measurement can be incredibly difficult…but it doesn’t have to be.

In this video, I explain why Real Ear Measurement is one of the most important audiologic best practices for hearing aid success — and why so few providers actually perform it regularly.

I talk about fitting hearing aids using real ear measurement frequently on my channel.

This test measures the amount of amplification coming out of the hearing aids inside of the patient's ear.

This is important because every ear canal is unique, and the size and shape of the ear impact the amount of sound reaching the eardrum.

The truth is, though, that fitting hearing aids is an art AND a science. As this patient's experience demonstrates, even hearing aids that perfectly match their prescription aren't going to be right for every patient.

Getting hearing aids from Costco would be great…if it weren’t for these two major problems.

In this video, I take another look at Costco Hearing Centers to explain why I still see so many Costco hearing aid users struggling with their hearing performance.

I want to make it clear that this video is not intended to bash Costco Hearing Centers. I believe Costco serves an important role in making hearing aids more affordable and accessible.

However, affordability alone does not guarantee optimal hearing performance.

If you currently wear Costco hearing aids — or are considering getting them — this video will help you determine whether Costco is the right option for your hearing healthcare needs.
