All of us at The Tulsa Music Awards care about all the folks involved in the Tulsa music community. Ricky is a bartender at Bad Ass Renee's and has been for a while. Bad Ass Renee's has been a sponsor for every awards show since the beginning and Ricky has been behind the bar for tons of shows at that establishment. If you feel so inclined to help, the link and original post by Ricky are below:

Last night tragedy struck my family-myself Ricky, Neka, my children-Jayden, and Kailani. A neighbor's domestic situation turned into loss. This neighbor, in my apartment building decided to burn it down at 2am this morning. I woke up to a burning apartment. I rushed for dear life to get my baby Kailani, Jayden & my mother (who was visiting) all out of the apartment safely. Had 60 more seconds passed in that apartment... we would not be here today.

In the process of the fire, we lost everything we ever owned. We take comfort in the fact that at least we have each other. Safe and sound. I never ask for sympathy or handouts from anyone but today is a day where I am throwing out the "no shame card." I have set up a Go FundMe account for our current needs. Anything would be greatly appreciated, even sharing this post would help. Hug your loved ones extra close today.

Our apartment was on the 3rd floor, if your looking through the pictures.

Kailanis sizes: 12 month clothes, size 4 diapers.

Jayden: 7.5 youth shoe size, 10-12 pant & shirts.

Last night tragedy struck my family-myself Ricky, Neka, my children-Jayden, and Ka… Ricky Moreno needs your support for Ricky & Nekas family emergency fund.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I must announce that the Tulsa Misic Awards will not take place in 2022. We truly wanted to make this event an annual event but we understand that the world around us just does not allow us to put on an event in the spirit that was the foundation of our intentions.
COVID has had much longer lasting effects on the world than any of us could have ever predicted. With every evolution and new strain of the virus, our world becomes a little more uncertain with itself. And more than that, political divides have split us as a nation (and our city feels this as well). At the Tulsa Music Awards, we do not ostracize musicians or individuals based on their feelings on this virus or how each individual deals with it. But this means we have to make choices based on what we feel is best.
Considering that we must do what is in the best interests of all Tulsa musicians and those who support them, we will continue to delay the Tulsa Music Awards until the nation is back to what feels like a state of normal. As of now, local musicians (not just in Tulsa but across the nation) are having a hard time feeling comfortable producing music videos, albums, and even singles. Venues are still struggling (SUPPORT THEM and PLEASE go out to shows where you feel comfortable). The world is just not normal yet. And we hope it gets back there soon. But until it does, we don't feel a large gathering of people in any space is in the best interest of anyone.
To all our vendors, if you feel like you can hold on until we can pull through, keep the deposits TMA has made in your company and wait with us until the next awards show. Otherwise, you can use our deposits as a donation to help your business through this hard time (we would honestly have no hard feelings against you and we completely understand).
The Tulsa Music Awards have always tried to keep the best interests of Tulsa musicians and those who support them in mind and at the forefront of our minds. And as of right now, we believe holding off for now is in everyone's best interest. It's a tough decision that we've mulled several hours over, but it's the one we are making for now for the safety of our city and our musicians.
We look forward to helping bring Tulsa to the forefront of the US's conversation about the best musical city in the USA in the future, but for now we feel this is our best course.
Please continue to follow us (as we will pivot and support musicians through other means through this next year) as we continue to support Tulsa.
Much love to you Tulsa,
Roger Seago and all of the Tulsa Music Award staff
