Through Dec. 20, parents, students and community members can nominate teachers who’ve displayed a commitment to education and their students for this year's Gold Star Teacher of the Year award.

The grand prize winner will take home a $2,000 grant and their school gets $1,000. This year, 10 finalists will each receive a gift basket as well.

Gold Star partners on the awards program with The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati.

“Embracing our most cherished traditions, while celebrating the vibrancy of contemporary music, Renée (Fleming) has curated an extraordinary series of programs that explore the depths of the human experience—from love and the beauty of dawn to the fragility of life on Earth,” Matthew Swanson, director of choruses, said.

The Greater Cincinnati area has received $11.1 million in federal “clean air” funds to install EV chargers in communities across the region.

These funds, awarded by OKI Regional Council of Governments, will be used to build 43 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the area. Sixteen organizations received awards ranging from $87,000 to $1.5 million. The charging stations will be in city centers, small neighborhoods, parks, universities and even a small airport.

A list of all the locations is below.

The $11.1 million in grant funding will construct 43 EV charging stations in areas across Greater Cincinnati.
