What is Jacaranda?

Jacaranda is an annual academic and creative writing journal for Humanities undergraduate students at the University of Queensland. It seeks to showcase the best and brightest undergraduate talent in the humanities and social sciences by providing students with an opportunity to be published and involve themselves in the journal’s production.

In 2019, Jacaranda is back! We’re not just here to publish those heavy academic essays you wrote for class. We want to cultivate a community of students who are passionate about writing, whether it’s creative story telling, poetry, or carefully constructed essays about our favourite humanities topics, we want to read it all!

We will be taking submissions across four categories: short stories, poetry, non-fiction and academic essays.

The Jacaranda Editorial team will also run a series of helpful writing workshops for all interested students to come along and hone their craft before submitting. So make sure to get involved and keep an eye on this space for all Jacaranda related news. If you have any questions about how you can get involved with Jacaranda or see your work in print, then don’t hesitate to contact us via this page or at [email protected].
