September 4, 2025, the iconic Gerry & Sylvia Anderson television series, Space: 1999 will be celebrating its 50th anniversary and Pencil Tip Publishing is planning to be a part of those celebrations.

Pencil Tip Publishing is pleased to announced the newest volume in our What The Fans Think series of books…..

WHAT THE FANS THINK: SPACE 1999
A 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

September 13th, 1999: the freak explosion of atomic waste dumps blasts the Moon out of Earth orbit, hurling the 311 men and women of Moonbase Alpha into the far reaches of space.

Over the course of 48 episodes, Space: 1999 followed the adventures of the inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha, a human colony stranded on the Moon after it gets blown out of Earth’s orbit by a massive nuclear explosion. Hurled off into deep space the Alphans must now struggle to survive in an overwhelmingly hostile universe long enough to find a new planet to call home, while also exploring what it truly means to be human as their journey continues.

WHAT THE FANS THINK is Pencil Tip’s series of books where the fans review and assess their favorite television series. Fan opinion can be extremely critical, often harsher than that of the meanest television critic. But when the fans love something, you know it. Praise, when given, is genuine and heartfelt.

Each volume will concentrate on a specific series and will feature original reviews, essays and analysis of every episode of that particular series. The fans will have their say on what they think are the best, worst and merely average episodes of a series. You just might be surprised by what they have to say.

To date we have published seven books in the series covering Blake’s 7, Torchwood, UFO, Sarah Jane Adventures, The Tomorrow People and Class.

We are now accepting article and essay submissions for Roving Reporter II

Sarah Jane Smith is without a doubt one of the most popular of the Doctor’s companions. An investigative journalist who travelled with the Doctor, she was confident, courageous, compassionate and inquisitive. She had a sharp mind and tongue, and was unabashedly feminist – the perfect strong female character, and a positive example to young girls everywhere.

All net proceeds from this publication will be donated in support of the British Columbia Cancer Foundation, the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province. The BCCF enable donors to make contributions to leading-edge research that has a direct impact on improvements to cancer care for patients in British Columbia.

It’s all about Sarah Jane

That’s right! We’re looking for essays and/or articles:

looking at the life of Sarah Jane Smith,
her travels with the Doctor,
her life after the Doctor.
her life during the events of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
deep dives into any of her adventures from her time with the third and fourth Doctor.
and more.

You can write about any aspect of Sarah Jane’s life as long as Sarah Jane is the focal point of the essay/article.

Essays/articles should be in the range of 1500-3000 words approximately.
Published essays/articles will be interspersed throughout the publication.
Essay/Article Proposals

We are asking contributors to initially submit a brief outline of your essay and/or article first. This should be no more than a one-page document outlining what your article and/or essay will be about (e.g. Sarah travelling with the fourth Doctor).

You can read the full submission guidelines https://penciltippublishing.wordpress.com/submissions/

Pencil Tip Publishing is pleased to announce Rogue & Gambit: Burning House, an unofficial, unauthorized X-Men themed short-story collection, with all proceeds donated to the Canadian Cancer Society –and YOU have the chance to submit your story and artwork.

Rogue & Gambit: Burning House tells the tales of Anna Marie and Remy LeBeau. Blessed and cursed with their uncanny powers, Rogue and Gambit have burned through the nightmares of their own dark pasts and their pained and passionate history to fight for a better world side by side. Now, their stories will be told by some of X-Men fandom’s greatest writers.

X-Men holds a unique place in comic, animation and cinematic fiction. Mutant outcasts, hated by many and loved by few, the team has overcome countless dangers, from Mutant terrorists to alien attacks, in their pursuit of peaceful coexistence. Alongside those perils, relationships have grown and blossomed, with none capturing the imagination quite like the Southern Belle and her Ragin’ Cajun.

X-Men stories can be dangerous, funny, light-hearted and dark. In their universe, the possibilities are endless.

The volume will feature 11 original stories from a mix of established, new and up-and-coming writers, with Rogue & Gambit taking centre stage, and 11 unique pieces of artwork. Rogue & Gambit: Burning House will be edited by James Silvester (Temporal Logbook III).

We have some exciting news for you.

What The Fans Think: Class will be officially released June 5, 2024.

Unapologetic and critical fan reviews and assessments

You’re in high school, dealing with all the usual problems of growing up. The walls of space and time are stretched thin around Coal Hill Academy, to the point where they are about to burst. And now, as if you didn’t already have enough to deal with, one of the students is an alien prince, your teacher is his guardian, and monsters from space are escaping through the cracks, hell bent on destroying the world. CLASS is a British science fiction drama series and spin-off of the long-running Doctor Who. Created and written by Patrick Ness, who also produced alongside then Doctor Who showrunner and lead writer Steven Moffat and Brian Minchin, the series consisted of eight episodes that ran between October and December 2016.

In this volume, we concentrate on all 8 broadcast episodes and 5 audio releases through reviews, articles, essays and more.

WHAT THE FANS THINK sees the fans review and assess their favorite television series. Fan opinion can be extremely critical, often harsher than that of the meanest TV critic. But when the fans love something, you know it. Praise comes quick & fast. Each volume concentrates on a specific series and features original reviews, essays and analysis of every episode of that particular series. The fans will have their say on what they think is the best, worst and merely average, of a series. You just might be surprised by what they have to say.
