Moonwatcher Music was founded by veteran RCA Victor artist and producer Joe Taylor, along with the late, great Steven M. Gates, former VP of A&R at BMG/RCA Victor. The label was created as a haven for like-minded independent artists… mostly major-label refugees themselves, for whom the art of music comes first. Originally based in New York City, Moonwatcher is now headquartered on an island off th
e coast of South Carolina, where all projects are tracked at our state-of-the-art studio, Salt Creek Recording, complete with a 48-channel Neve console and all the requisite bells and whistles. The Moonwatcher family of musicians includes: former Wings drummer Steve Holley, former Jeff Beck and Lou Reed drummer Tony “Thunder” Smith, Keith Urban/Lady Antebellum bassist Sean O’Bryan Smith, SNL/Levon Helm bassist Paul Ossola, Widespread Panic/Bonnie Raitt sax and keyboard player Randall Bramblett, Ian Hunter bassist Paul Page, Rhianna drummer Blair Shotts, and acclaimed pianist Jeff Franzel (Shawn Colvin, Billy Joel). Moonwatcher projects are mixed and mastered in New York by four-time Grammy winner Steve Rosenthal at the Magic Shop, by two-time Grammy winner Chris Theis at Theis Mix, and acclaimed engineer Mark Richardson at Alchematic. On the West Coast our projects are recorded and mixed by four-time Grammy winner Steve Churchyard at EastWest Studios/Hollywood. email:
