GOV FUBARA’S GOVERNMENT TOUTED 4B MSMEs LOAN UNREALISTIC, REGRETTABLE AND THE NEED TO PLACE PROPER VALUE ON OUR RIVERS PEOPLE — RIVERS APC

The Chairman and members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) Caretaker Committee, Rivers State are NOT in agreement with the low value placed on the people of our dear state by Gov Fubara’s government and the PDP

On Friday the 3rd of May, 2024, the media was awash with promotional advertisements in the electronic and print media on the collaboration of the Rivers State Government and the Bank of Industry(BOI) in a 4B Naira MSMEs loan scheme wherein, the state government’s contribution is 2Billion Naira and the BOI also contributed 2Billion Naira.
If a loan/credit scheme for MSMEs are well thought out, its contribution to reduction of poverty, unemployment and the overall multiplier effect in the growth of the economy and the wellbeing of the citizens can not be overemphasized.

However, it is interesting to note that as a result of a hurriedly packaged loan/credit scheme for MSMEs just to enable the government hoodwink the unsuspecting Rivers people that it has something to show after a wasted one(1) year in office in unnecessary and avoidable crises, which has worsened our development drive in decades, the Gov Fubara led government did not factor in the rising population of about 7million or more people of the state, the high unemployment rate, the rising cost of commodities, goods/services and the prevailing Naira /Dollar exchange rates volatility.

We are very disappointed, after a profound consideration. Gov Fubara needn’t contribute this paltry sum-2Billion Naira for the 23 local government Areas. A rough estimate will get us to a less than a hundred million per Lga and when you add the contribution from BOI, it is less or about 160 million Naira per Lga as against a whopping 600 million splashed on a jamboree ‘THANKSGIVING’ per Lga by Gov. Fubara’s Government and party-the PDP.

In our view, the minimum required for a take off of this credit/loan scheme should have started with 5Billion Naira from the state government to cover a larger population of the people and the MSMEs, taking into consideration, the Governor’s hint at an astronomical rise in figure recorded in the internally generated revenue(IGR) few weeks ago.

It shows the government is retrogressive since his predecessor’s started their credit/loan schemes to MSMEs pegged at 2Billion Naira then, at a time there was exchange rate stability which put the value of the 2Billion at almost 5Billion or more today. When you take ‘3066 persons + 100 companies’ according to the government who are beneficiaries of the credit/loan scheme, you will agree with us that it will be too little to make any significant change in the lives of our down trodden, traumatized and impoverished people and their business pursuits. This can actually be more frustrating. Besides, we are questioning processes of selection of beneficiaries and the issue of transparency and good conscience.

We believe, that whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well. Gov Fubara ought to know that, the credit/loan scheme to the MSMEs will not perform as the political instability in the state is very unfriendly to investment and the purpose for which it was put in place may become counterproductive by pushing our people into debts and unprecedented poverty.

We urge, Gov Fubara to consider wider consultations with critical stakeholders to reflect the reality of the prevailing economic, political, socio-cultural circumstances to meet the target of this policy.
The government has to always take in-depth considerations for a policy initiative and its implementation to meet the set goals.

As a party , we are available to proffer solutions to solving the numerous challenges confronting our dear state with a view to improving the life of our citizens.

Thank you and God bless

30/04/2024

FCT MINISTER-CHIEF, BAR WIKE’S DISPOSITION TO OPPOSITION PARTY LEADERS IS STATESMANLY, ENCOURAGING PEACE ETC IN RIVERS STATE.

A quintessential Leader MUST encourage reconciliation, peace and consensus building to achieve DEVELOPMENT in his organization, community, state or country.

The Chairman and members of the Caretaker Committee of the All Progressives Congress(APC), Rivers State wish to on behalf of the members of the party across the state THANK the immediate past Governor of the state and the FCT Minister-Chief, Bar Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, GSSRS, Life Bencher, POS for his statesmanly actions in furtherance of peace and reconciliation among Rivers sons and daughters who had been torn apart by bitter politics in our dear state.

Yesterday, to the chagrin of many crisis merchants and conflict entrepreneurs, the FCT minister demonstrated leadership by his onerous efforts at reconciling some of the leaders of the state by making it possible for them to shake hands, attend same occasions in the same vehicle, sitting together and making merry.
A case in point was the Thanksgiving Service of the Rivers State, Caretaker Committee Chairman- Chief Tony Okocha, KSC, DSSRS.

It is public knowledge that, Senator Magnus Abe and Chief Okocha became estranged as a result of irreconcilable political differences which tore them apart.
Furthermore, the National Vice Chairman of the APC-South South-Chief Victor Tombari Giadom, KSC do not see eye to eye with Senator Magnus Abe who incidentally hail from the same ward and local government in the state as a result of stiff political rivalry.

To the elation of onlookers, at the Airforce Base and the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Rumuigbo, on Sunday the 28th April, 2024 there was a huge applause as the celebrant beamed with smiles when he received the FCT Minister in company of Chief Victor Giadom who represented the National Chairman of the APC- Dr Abdulahi Ganduje and Senator Magnus Abe etc who alighted from the same vehicle.

As a party-APC, we have had challenges in reconciling aggrieved members of the party to present a formidable and united party to confront our challengers- the PDP for quite a while. The major reason we have suffered enormous defeat from Chief Wike, FCT Minister and his party from 2015-2024.

With these reconciliations and other efforts, the APC Caretaker Committee is repositioned to strengthen the party in our calculations to defeating the PDP, starting with the local Government Election through others. The actions of the FCT Minister are commendable and unprecedentedly a show of unbiased political leadership strategy.
This will strengthen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support base in our dear state and drum up support for his administration and policies aimed at improving the living standards of Nigerians.

We equally wish to encourage other leaders at the state and national levels to emulate this gesture as a panacea to the acrimonious political processes in our polity.
It is note worthy to state pointedly, that the nexus between peace and development are like Siamese twins. Our state is in dire need of efforts by political gladiators at encouraging peace, stability and development as against primordial and parochial leanings.

Thank you and God bless.

“Furthermore, the suspension of Dagomie Abiante became indispensable putting into consideration his involvement in organising, training and equipping group of members for the purposes of employing violence coercion and other form of intermediation within the party. TRACKING NYESOM WIKE'S "KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS" IN NIGERIA'S CAPITAL CITY

Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, (FCTA), is a politician who hugs the limelight effortlessly. Unlike most politicians occupying public office who struggle, and most times conjure imaginary scenarios to be noticed, Wike, by his performances, actions, and comments is always in the news. Though this inclination sometimes soaked him in controversies but he has standout as one of the notable politicians in the fourth republic.
He is a performer, great one at that. Some people complain about his style and comportment but one very enduring trait about him is that, you know where he stands on any, every issue.
Unlike many politicians who reprobate and approbate in their bid to be "good men" in the eyes and minds of Nigerians, Wike speaks and act from the heart; raw and undiluted.
In doing this, he never shies away from political fights and battles where and when necessary. He may be loquacious but remains uninhibited, excitable, bold, courageous, and assertive.

As Governor of Rivers state between 2015 and 2023, Wike through his record-breaking performances, controversies, and all brought the "Treasure Base" to the zenith of states in Nigeria.

He knew how to hold his audience - admirers and adversaries spell bound with his superlative achievements in critical sectors of the economy. From roads and bridges construction to healthcare facilities, education, security, and many others it was absolutely difficult not to recognize and applaud him.
For eight years, he never gave his political adversaries and opponents the opportunity to accuse him of non-performance. On one of his visits to Rivers, impressed by the quality and depth of infrastructural development he saw and commissioned, former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo eulogised Wike and called him "Mr. Project" - a sobriquet that was undeniable.

Realizing that many notable Nigerians; across political divides, religion, and ethnicity always commend Wike on his performances, the Buhari-led administration recognized and awarded him a prestigious award on projects and infrastructural development.

Following his appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) by President Bola Tinubu, many Nigerians were excited and expectant that Wike will perform the "Rivers magic" in the capital city.
A school of thought postulated that given the multiplicity of developmental challenges in the FCT, Tinubu requires a man with proven capacity, experience, and exposure; such as Wike to turn the tide.
Another school of thought outrightly predicted that Wike would go the way of his predecessors because of high stake politicking, interplay of centrifugal forces, class and power struggle, and monumental development deficits.

For the records, Wike took office when everything was wrong with the capital city and area councils. From security to infrastructure and other sectors, it was the same negative narratives.
At the time he assumed office, terrorists and people of inordinate violence had run rings round the FCT, plucking residents, who were easy targets; so routinely and striking grave fear and worries in the hearts of everyone.

Deploying his experience on similar security challenges in Rivers, Wike faced it headlong. Recall we noted earlier that he relishes to fight and fights to overcome and dominate. He had countless and consistent interface with all the security structures to ascertain the problems, and how to tackle it.
Through this strategy, Wike was able to break every bureaucracy, ensure effective and efficient synergies among all security agencies, and elevated monitoring and evaluation processes. What has changed in the FCT?

In few months of rigorous planning, improved provision of facilities, and sustained operations, the agents of insecurity now realized that they are contending with a different, result-driven security apparatus under a new sheriff in the FCT. The metropolis, area councils and other suburbs are better protected.
Cases of one-chance, kidnapping, and other security challenges are gradually going down. Residents and visitors celebrated the Easter session and Eid-el-Fitri holidays without any major negative incident.

Having served as Minister of state, Education, and supervisory Minister of Education in President Goodluck Jonathan's administration, Wike has brought his past experiences to bear in FCTA.
Realizing that the problems of education in the FCTA centred around decrepit structures; widening divides between education opportunities and technological tools; skills challenge; inspectorate gaps; lack of capacity building; poor staffing and negligible remunerations, Wike rolled up his sleeves to engage the "education monster."

Among the bold steps taken to re-envision education in the FCTA includes reconstruction of 19 secondary schools with 20 more to follow in 2024; scholarship awards to over 130,000 indigent students in low and abject poverty communities; created a training and re-training scheme for teachers; mass promotion of teaching and non-teaching staff along well drawn benchmarks; payments of long-forgotten emoluments and allowances; and many other initiatives.

For a sector that rarely featured among the priority interests of many of his predecessors, Wike has re-invigorated the education sector.
A senior member of the FCTA Education Secretariat who pleaded anonymity describes the education transformation as, "extremely encouraging and inspiring because within few months, Wike and the Minister of state have shown that with the right political will and sincerity of purpose things can be done.
The wave of programmes and projects in the education has been surprising and gratifying."

Prior to his deployment, the FCTA which was conceived to run as a state was structured as a ministry. It has been a misnomer and surprisingly, subsequent governments carried on like that.

Wike noticed this glaring misalignment in fusing public servants of the FCTA into the scheme of the Federal Civil Service Commission. Backed with presidential approval and legislative endorsement, Wike announced the creation of the FCTA Civil Service Commission. Subsequently, with Tinubu's approval, he announced the appointments of Chairman and Members of the FCTA Civil Service Commission; Head of Service; and 10 Permanent Secretaries.

These positive developments was welcomed by the entire staff of the FCTA and Area Councils, as they now have opportunities for career growth. In addition, some staff who had suffered stunted, and delayed progression benefitted from the recent approval for promotions.

To encourage staff welfare, backlog of arrears and allowances have been paid. There are plans for consistent, intensive and extensive capacity building programmes for staff in the coming months.

Similarly, Wike having discovered procedural error in the composition of Mandate Secretaries, established the "Women Secretariat" to ensure an all-inclusive bureaucracy.

That the capital city has suffered infrastructural decay, particularly in the past eight years is very obvious.
From roads to water, health, and transport Abuja appeared to have experienced deliberate and systemic failures.

Expectedly, Wike has embarked on aggressive, and determined re-work of infrastructure in the capital city and area councils. In few months, Wike has turned Abuja to a construction sight.

Driving through districts and highways within the city, one cannot miss the levels of on-going construction works. Is it the Wuse-Wuye link road; Berger-AYA Road; AYA-CBD Road; Southern Inner Road; Northern Inner Road and more?
How about the re-surfacing of over 135 inner-city roads; on-going construction of roads in the area councils; construction of bridges; opening-up and expansion of facilities in Guzape and other districts and more?

Instructively, other sectors are experiencing the "Wike magic." There are concerted effort to improve the provision and expansion of quality, potable water in the capital city through the "Greater Abuja Water Supply" scheme that is on-going. Residents and visitors to Gwarimpa, Kado, Life Camp and other locations are witnesses to the water project where site-men and labourers work even weekends to meet the deadline for completion of the project.
With the passage of the 2014 Budget of the FCTA, attention will be on massive upgrade, and provision of facilities at the Wuse, Gwarimpa, and other General Hospitals.
The Utako General Hospital, which was a Public Private Partnership but witnessed decade-long contractual infractions has been reviewed, and construction works would start before the end of 2024.

For now, like or loathe him, Wike has distinguished himself as one of the brilliant contributors to the realization of Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda. His choice and masterful deliveries has further confirmed Tinubu's status as one who knows how to identify and pick talents for excellence in public service.

Not minding the shameless efforts of political opponents, adversaries and haters, the vast majority of Abuja residents, visitors and many Nigerians are impressed with Wike's transformation initiatives for the FCT; the seat of power. That he few months, Wike and his team have being able to record strides that previous ministers were unable to do requires commendation not criticism; applause not jeers; good wishes not negative thoughts; prayers not curses.

Like the popular dictum, "reward for hard work is more work" one hopes that Wike will not relent and slow-down in the impressive works he is doing.
He should realise that the prayers and good wishes of apolitical Nigerians, who are majority are always with him.
Without sounding political, Wike being the first southerner, in about five decades to occupy the office should do everything humanly possible to write his name in "quadruple gold" after his tour of duty as the FCTA Minister.

My Dear Leader Nyesom,

Yesterday, I stood by your feet watching you making reference to one man and one woman whom you had shown extreme love and kindness, to but you forgot to mention some and many of your kind interventions to the man and his Family.

When Elders abandon statesmanship and wear the cloak of politicians, They have opened themselves to the court of public opinion.

A Father whom would have taken a position of Neutrality in a fight between two of his sons, decided to enter the ring himself throwing punches at his older son.

When people say the man and his wife helped you, How significant was the Help and How have you paid them in return?

You had told us that, When you were about to run for second term in office as council, You ran to his wife for counsel and to intervene in the process. This is the only significant thing I can remember.

How did you repay them back?
Morealso, You went on to become Chief of Staff, Minister, Governor and now Minister with little or no significant support from them but a Honourable man will always repays good deeds no matter how little they may be.

Your Excellency, If you have forgotten, Let me remind you. The man in 2008 could not hold his 60th Birthday in Port Harcourt, He had to hold it in Abuja, Years after You made his successive Birthdays a state affair.

Your Excellency, On the morning of his 68th birthday in 2016 after you had restored him to Glory with the apparent imprint of your magic wand and kindness, in his life and Family, He told the folks that visited him that day which is made up of 70% of his political godsons that

“None of you would have been here today nor remembered, If not for what Wike had done and has been doing”.

Yes, They completely forgot.

People forget that The man had refused to proclaim the House because He wanted his political godson to be Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly and then later Governor yet the man refused to allow them come one inch close to his Government because He knew whom He truly was.

You built a cardiovascular center and named after them, something they could not build while they were Governor.

You built a judicial institute to train judicial officers and named it in honour of his wife, Hosted her ceremoniously on her 70th and supported her to become Chairman of the body of Benchers.

Their own Pikin wey them make P.A, Speaker and through that means become Governor, How far?

He paid them with a judicial panel of inquiry, but I won’t really blame him much, because He knew them better than anyone of us.

Your Excellency, In February 2020, Their Abuja Residence was invaded after a Supreme Court judgement that kicked out the then Governor Elect of Bayelsa state, David Lyon. Who was the lone voice crying in the wilderness for their safety?

Who was the person that ensured security agencies were mobilized and beefed around their residence to ensure their safety?

You were the one person who took a stand to protect them and their family from the Monumental Embarrassment and intimidation. Everyone looked away, Not even The Supreme Court issued a statement in condemnation of the attack.

On 29th October 2021, Some folks got emboldened by the incidence of February 2020 with a Magistrate issuing a search warrant/order for their residence to be invaded yet again.

Who led from the front same night to ensure the madness was restored to normalcy? You went there yourself and almost kept watch all night to ensured no hurt came to the old man and his Family.

The Next day, You held a press conference at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja challenging the monstrous Hydra, tackling it Headlong to address the powers that be in this country.

Enough is Enough!

You roared like a wounded lion, watching after his kin waging attack from external forces.

Oga na man you be o

D**e!!

Your Excellency, In one of my strolls around one of the most popular streets in GRA due to the fact that the Presidential Hotel is No.1 on the street, You will see that Bureau the change Operators have taken over the man’s house and entrance into his premises for their business Transactions. Out of magnanimity, you looked on this man and called on Julius Berger to build an edifice constructed after the fashion of the Government House Port Harcourt. You provided 15 plots of land today, built a befitting mansion his son; Your predecessor could not build and bestowed upon him the Honours.

Your Excellency, The same Magic wand touched his two children indirectly today and they were first nominated to become Magistrates and now High court Judges living in palatable houses constructed by your administration. Lest we forget, Upon swearing in as Magistrates, One was given double promotion to become Chief Magistrate on the same day.

Your Excellency, when you left office on 29th of May 2023, You were received triumphantly by your people throwing their wrappers and roses at your feet, but when they left, Only few cars escorted them back to their GRA Residence after which it was rumored they moved back to the Presidential Quarters of the Government House, Rivers state since they couldn’t move into A*o Rock on same Day.

In all of your own good to him, How well did He pay those that did good to him?

I wouldn’t want to open the can of worms but However, we will not forget How This same man as Governor, arrested the Son of a man who gave him the opportunity to serve as his Deputy Governor, because they opposed to his policies and played the the role of opposition in the APP.

Your Excellency, They can do anything to you, but there are things they can never take away from you.

One of which is, Anytime you drive around the Iriebe axis of the Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway, You will see a magnificent building boldly written “The Nyesom Ezenwo Wike Administrative Building” recognizing the over N3 billion investment, The state Government had made in that institution under your watch to ensure that dream did not die. They can’t take it away from you neither can they take down the building.

We appreciate Gov Fubara for consolidating on it.
