Hello friends!
I hope you are all doing well and staying safe. As promised, I am here to share with you the baklava recipe I made on Eid! 😍
First, let me tell you that making baklava may seem daunting at first, but trust me, it is easier than you think. And the end result is absolutely worth it. So let's get started!
Ingredients:
- Phyllo sheets
- 1 cup melted butter
- 2 cups chopped nuts (I like to use a mixture of walnuts, pistachios, and almonds)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 lemon, juiced
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 170 degrees C.
2. Butter the bottom and sides of a baking dish.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped nuts with cinnamon and set aside.
4. Place 2 sheets of phyllo dough in the bottom of the prepared dish and brush with melted butter.
5. Spread the nut mixture evenly over the phyllo dough.
6. Continue layering the remaining phyllo sheets brushing each sheet with melted butter.
7. Before adding the final layer, use a sharp knife to cut the baklava into desired shapes.
8. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until golden brown.
9. While the baklava is baking, prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, honey, vanilla extract, and lemon juice in a saucepan over medium heat.
10. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 20 minutes.
11. Once the baklava is done, immediately pour the hot syrup over the hot baklava. Let it cool before serving.
And there you have it! A delicious and mouth-watering baklava that will surely bring a smile to your face. Trust me, the combination of the crunchy layers of phyllo dough and the sweet and nutty filling will have you coming back for more! 🥰😍
