Once again, Facebook has gone down and refuses to connect to IFTTT, so our headlines stopped coming through a few days ago. We will do a few manually tonight, but as Facebook is not letting us reconnect, we don’t know if we will keep retrying.

This comes up with considerable frequency. We’d prefer you come straight to Lucire at https://lucire.com.

Following in the footsteps of Gandhi’s Salt March
Gandhi’s Dandi March was an organized protest against the British Raj’s monopoly, and formed a crucial part of the Indian freedom movement. This excerpt from Becoming Gandhi describes Perry Garfinkel’s effort to retrace Gandhi’s steps 93 years later

We have a page

We started in 1997, in the heady days of the web, and were the first online fashion magazine in New Zealand (well, the first that lasted more than one issue). By 2003, we became UN Environment’s (UNEP back then) first fashion industry partner. In 2004, we were probably the first online fashion title to spawn a print magazine, then license it to different countries. In 2005, we were the first to publish an international sustainable style editorial. We’ve tried to do right on this planet, and we’ve always treated our readers as intelligent human beings who are inspirational and independently minded. Fast forward to (nearly) the dawn of the 2020s. We won’t lie to you: we’re not fans of how Facebook says one thing and does another. In our pages, we’ve promoted based on merit, and Facebook wouldn’t actually pass muster if it was a fashion label. We know Facebook is tracking you, often more than your settings have allowed. Therefore, we’re consciously trying to limit the time you spend on this website. However, we also know that we should maintain a Facebook presence, as there are many of you who want that convenience. But we’d much rather see you on our site, so please click on those links when you see them. Independent magazines like ours would really appreciate that. If you need to contact us, email us at info@, followed by our domain. If you’d like to visit our site, head to http://lucire.com. No paywalls—just come in and enjoy.
