It is our goal to educate our readership of the current subjects happening in the South Bay - and only the South Bay. San Diego's South Bay Community Magazine is also an educational opportunity for new members of the community to understand what makes this area so unique and special. The South Bay is a unique and culturally diverse area that is rich in history. It is an "old-school" community with
a heart and soul, and Southern California classic style. The area is traditionally more residential, and calmer than North County, and for some, it is completely unknown. Its long-time South Bay California residents have an imense sense of community and pride. The area counts on important wildlife habitats, a relatively commercially "untouched" beach community in comparison to other coastal cities, breath-taking jogging/walking trails, beautiful parks, local farms, horse ranches, a Salt Works company from the 1870's, an old railroad history, art museums, the busiest land border crossing in the world, a State Park on the most southwestern corner of the U.S. with an international border fence in the pacific ocean, a large military population, a surfing community, delicious street food....and, we could go on and on. The cities and communities of the South Bay are: Bonita, National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, Lincoln Acres, South San Diego, and San Ysidro. Its boundaries are the United States Mexico border on the South, National City's border with Northern San Diego, Coronado to the north, and the unnincorporated communities and Otay Lakes to the east.
