“With Heartbreak High, I was encouraged to step into my inner child and be a bit of a delinquent. And then for Bali 2002, you’re telling a true story with real people so there’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that. I would watch archival footage and try to step into that world more. It’s weird putting on different hats at the same time, but it was nice being able to go into two different realms.”

“That is my life now. It’s so nice because I get to see everything go full circle as my daughter does the things I did as a kid. There is something quite special about it. Things have gotten really busy and I'm very lucky and grateful that I have been working a lot for most of this year. But now I'm really trying to balance that with finding time to spend with my family and get those precious moments in.”

“If you’re never nervous, I don’t think it means anything to you. I think excitement overshadowed the nerves to a certain extent. I just wanted to learn from you guys so much. It’s rare you get these opportunities, especially as a young Black actor, bro, our stories don’t really get told like that. "I'd come straight out of the desert [from SAS Rogue Heroes] to join Lady Chatterley’s Lover in the idyllic Welsh countryside and big manor houses. Working with Emma [Corrin] on this was class. They’re so driven, knuckles down and that. But the contrast between these two roles was pretty palpable, and yet there was commonality between the two characters, there’s inner turmoil in both, but one deals with it more outwardly, the other more internally. But in all honesty, I’m game for anything.”

“At the start of lockdown I prioritised my screenwriting and developing projects, both TV and film; things that I anticipated starring in, but also things that I was interested in and wanted to produce, where I feel like I can add value in some way,” shares polymath . “Dash & Lily was one where I was approached by the creative team on that and loved their pitch, got familiar with the project and was most thrilled to get to work on it.”
