Renowned for seamlessly blending innovation, tradition and cutting-edge technology, YUIMA NAKAZATO OFFICIAL's work transcends conventional boundaries. Born in Japan in 1985, Nakazato strives to create progressive, sustainable clothes that form a unique emotional bond with the people who wear them. To achieve this, he draws insights from the creativity of haute couture combined with traditional Japanese techniques. His inspiration is mainly from nature - the song of whales, the red lava of volcanoes or the beauty of landscapes.

The Museum of Lace and Fashion in Calais, France (La Cité de la dentelle et de la mode de Calais), is hosting the inaugural monographic exhibition of this trailblazing avant-garde fashion designer. The exhibition runs from 15 June 2024 to 5 January 2025.

See more of Nakazato's work in and on the cover of Anthology Volume 21, available now from our website, Boutiquemags and various stockists worldwide.

Irish designer Helen Hayes infuses contemporary couture with traditional elegance. In Anthology Volume 21, she talks about her journey to becoming a fashion designer, what inspires her and the great impact her childhood exposure to traditional crafts has had on her work.

"I never set out to make my work intricate; it just seemed to happen organically. The complexity depends very much on the particular collection or the piece itself."

"Great jagged chunks of ice rise up on each side of the vessel. Rhythmic thumps followed by sharp hissing as cracks zig-zag out from the front of the ship, forming angles and geometric shapes in the ice for hundreds of feet around. Thick, pointed, broken ice shards, feet across in in width, rise up the sides of the vessel as if an enormous shark is trying to swallow us whole."

Sailing around the beautiful Turkish waters with ScicSailing!

Anthology is currently on travel assignment in Turkiye. Day 1 was spent travelling from Bodrum to Knidos Archaeological Site, where the Aegean and the Mediterranean meet at the tip of the Datça peninsula, and where the Temple of Apollo was established in 2 BC.

After starting the day with a healthy breakfast on board, the views were endlessly beautiful. What an incredible region to explore. More stories to come during the week, so stay tuned!

Remembering Johnny Fean - Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís.

On the first anniversary of Johnny's death, Patrick Cassidy remembers the influence Johnny and the Horslips had on his early life.

"No one produces music in isolation. We all have our musical inspirations, artists who paved the way and introduced us to extraordinary new sounds. For me and a whole generation of young musicians, Horslips, particularly Johnny Fean, were a huge inspiration."

Wacky and wonderful: soak up some of London's creativity, dynamism and heritage at these must-see destinations.

Halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London is St Dunstan-in-the-East Church Garden, which is one of the most beautiful gardens in the city. Open to the public after centuries of use, destruction, neglect and rebirth, it's a popular escape from the busy nearby streets.

Leake Street in Lambeth was once just a dark, grim tunnel running under Waterloo Station. That all changed in 2008 when Banksy held a street art festival there, transforming it ever since into a bold, colourful place where artists can showcase their work. No two visits here are the same.

At first glance did you think this was a photo?

Nathan Walsh is a contemporary realist painter living in Wales. Though he uses simple ratios and perspective in his astoundingly-detailed creations, his 'freefall' approach often leads to unexpected outcomes, allowing his work to move forward in a dynamic and original way.

This International Women's Day, we celebrate the greater awareness we now have of the role of the women who were very actively involved in the struggle for Irish freedom and the foundation of the new State.

Several hundred women took part in the 1916 Rising, not only carrying dispatches and providing medical care but also fighting beside their male comrades. From Kathleen Clarke, who chaired the first meeting of Cumann na mBan, to the Daly sisters who were the driving force behind the Limerick City branch, there are so many stories of courageous women from this time.
