It is with enormous sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Cresswell. The lead actor of Obsolete, our very first short film and graduate film. Brian was tremendously kind, charitable, super talented and brimming with humor — always telling jokes on set.

Obsolete was a very out there concept but Brian understood it from the get go. He was excited and up to do anything (including getting coffee thrown all over him in slow motion), he truly gave it his all. It was no surprise that the film went on to win a bunch of awards nationally and internationally. Most notably best short at Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival in the USA. Our first award and our first trip over as well. Brian helped get us our start and it’s something we’ll never forget. We couldn’t be more thankful and appreciative.

Rest In Peace Brian Cresswell.

We are incredibly proud to announce that Cold Water has made official selection at the Oscar qualifying Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Tokyo, Japan! The festival will run from June 6th to June 26th.

Cold Water has now received its second official selection at the Oscar qualifying 47th Cleveland International Film Festival ! Held at the impressive Playhouse Square - The largest performing arts district outside of New York City. This will also mark as Cold Water’s theatrical world premiere. The festival will run March 22nd - April 1st with an additional virtual festival running April 2nd - 9th for US audiences only.

We are excited to announce Cold Water has made official selection at the Oscar qualifying film festival Cinequest ! Located in the technology hub of Silicon Valley, USA. Home of Netflix, Apple, Facebook, Twitter and more. The festival will commence 11th-20th of August. Cinequest will also host a virtual festival via Cinejoy for US audiences only from the 1st-12th of March. You can buy tickets now!

Ahoy! It’s been a minute since Jay and I’s last short film, but we can finally announce our latest project — Cold Water!
With the support of the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria, we go into production in early 2022. The project has been in development for 2 years now, with the screenplay catching some awards at various international screenwriting competitions.
Cold Water marks our first official project under Howling Jack Films, and we’re excited to launch into it with plenty more news to come. Stay up to date by following the Howling Jack Films social media pages.
