PhotoAid was founded in 2009 by Michele Cazzani, Andrea Micheli and Nicola Demolli Crivelli, professional photographers with particular experience in the field of social reportage. PhotoAid is the first Italian nonprofit photographic agency specialized in documenting the activities of humanitarians operators.
Purpose The agency is a strategic reference point for humanitarian organizations to which it provides high quality photo/video documentation, an indispensable tool for effective communication in a sector that relies on image for fundraising and divulgation and enhancement of its work.
Approach PhotoAid's photographers have acquired a deep knowledge of the areas of intervention of cooperation that allows them to act with serenity and effectiveness even in the most difficult situations and respond to the specific requests of the client. Empathy and respect for the subjects photographed guide the agency's work. The reports are rich in information, understanding, optimism and free from rhetoric and pietism. The language is lively and dynamic, capable of highlighting the successes achieved by humanitarian organizations.
Activities and results PhotoAid has documented many projects in more than twenty countries, working with dozens of humanitarian organizations. Photographs and videos have been used to write informative/disseminating material, fundraising campaigns and events, photo exhibitions, catalogues, books, magazines, newspapers and online information.
