Rebellion is an alternate media network which supports community activism by providing a platform for independent artists. On the 21st of June 2014 50,000 people were outside BBC broadcasting house on a march for change and an alternative to austerity. The BBC broadcasted a piece on the quality of the turf at Wimbledon. The role and responsibility of art is to provide that voice and hold a mirror
up to society. It is clear that the mainstream media cannot be trusted to keep the population informed, whilst at the same time across the UK a combination of interference by local authorities and unfair economic conditions have made it almost impossible for independent artists to challenge dominant media bias. The Rebellion is a coordinated effort that will drown out the right wing media bias which dominates our society whilst raising awareness and countering political apathy. We will achieve this is by coordinating various artist’s writers and musicians in hosting events and producing a wide variety of multimedia content that supports various independent artists and allows them to challenge the dominant narrative. The Rebellion will also help in both raising awareness and fundraising for a variety of working groups. These groups can then use the support towards their campaigns and events which help to promote social justice and stand up for peoples human rights. The Rebellion supports all ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, generations, sexualities, disabilities, faiths. So long as they are not corrupt, fascist, or corporate. To accommodate a wide variety of individuals The Rebellion is non-party political, however we are aware there are many smaller political parties that share common interests therefore we welcome your support and cooperation. We support the push for global equality and we believe that the worlds resources must be used responsibly and go towards caring for people and the planet, not for military or corporate profits. We will support campaigns for a more sustainable and fair economic system that will benefit the present and future generations. The Rebellion will thrive by ACTIVE participation and individual members using their own initiative. Join The Rebellion and change things for the better.
