Honors College Lecturer (3 Positions)

The Honors College at the University at Albany, SUNY, seeks three full-time lecturers to begin in Fall 2024. Ideal candidates will come from fields that permit diverse interdisciplinary teaching, including:
American/Cultural Studies
Archaeology
Art History
Cultural Geography
Data Science
Economic History
Environmental Science
Ethnic/Gender Studies
Human Biology
Media Studies
Neuroscience
Public Health
Science and Technology Studies
This is a three-year renewable 10-month appointment with opportunities for promotion to Lecturer 2 and Senior Lecturer.
Primary Responsibilities:
Teach a 3/3 course load plus one section of Honors Education: Theory, Research, & Practice each year.
Hold office hours and maintain regular communication with students.
Provide unbiased feedback and guidance to student work at regular intervals.
Serve as an academic mentor to Honors College students.
Perform course and program assessments.
Host one co-curricular event per semester.
Serve on Honors College committees.
Attend the annual Honors College retreat.
Implement principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., J.D., MFA, DSW, or MLS from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized accrediting organization by 6/1/2024. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered.
Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community.
Applicants must develop an ability to support diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and belonging relative to their role.
Experience teaching at the college level.
Experience developing original course syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
Experience teaching discussion-based seminars.
Ability to work with a culturally diverse student body and a growing international student population.
Demonstrated commitment to student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with interdisciplinary and/or Honors teaching.
