Novalima- La Danza (Deluxe Version)

The pioneering Afro-Peruvian sound system Novalima proudly celebrated their 20th anniversary in 2023, with new music, divided into two EPs: La Danza Parts 1 & 2.

Now those EPs have been combined with four new tracks, to form the Deluxe Edition of La Danza. The new songs include "Camino Al Ketoke", "Viajo Con La Luna", "Alma" and the band's dance-floor friendly rendition of the Bob Marley classic, "Exodus".

Novalima has seen worldwide critical acclaim from mainstream outlets like NPR, UK’s The Guardian, Wall Street Journal, La Presse, Metro, Billboard – to name a few. And garnered critical accolades nationally from KCRW who heralded Novalima as “One of our favorite finds over the past decade”

They have delivered legendary performances around the world at festivals including Roskilde, WOMAD, NYC Central Park, Montreal Jazz Festival and Chicago’s Millennium Park, earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Album, and were featured in cult filmmaker Robert Rodriguez’s hit Mexploitation movie Machete.

FRÄNDER – Under ditt hjärta (Kaya Project Remix)

After releasing an excellent new album & touring North America in 2024, the great Swedish band FRÄNDER is starting 2025 off strongly. The group recently played a series of live shows in New York, culminating with a live performance at Lincoln Center.

Now their track "Under ditt hjärta" has been remixed by one of our favorite artist/producers Kaya Project, who brings lovely new textures to the song.

OVA, the new album from Afro Celt Sound System-

Afro Celt Sound System make their long-awaited label debut on Six Degrees Records with OVA, the Grammy-nominated group's eighth studio album and the final one with their late founder at the helm -- producer and lead guitarist Simon Emmerson, who lost his battle with cancer last year. As such, this recording stands as both a tribute to, and the final legacy of, the visionary and innovative musician and Druidic nature lover who launched the European/African band in 1995.

The album title OVA is the moniker of the band's logo symbol that's appeared on their album covers since their 1996 debut, VOLUME ONE: SOUND MAGIC. It was designed by Simon Emmerson's friend from London punk-era days, the late British graphic designer Jamie Reid, most famous for his album designs for the S*x Pistols. The two shared family histories of Druidic beliefs and nature camps, and both were honorary bards in the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. Reid created the OVA symbol, overlaying O, V, and A to spell "egg," evoking creation and regeneration; to Emmerson, it perfectly expressed the sonic innovations he was envisioning with his band.

For OVA, original band members N'Faly Kouyaté (vocals, kora, balafon, calabash) and we Johnny Kalsi (dhol drum, tabla) are joined by Manchester-based Irish singer and flautist Rioghnach Connoll and a host of fine musicians, including Robbie Harris (bodhran), Ewen Henderson (violin) and Simon "Mass" Massey (programming, keyboards, electronica -- who also co-produced the album with Emmerson). On "AM," the second single from the album, the band's original Gaelic singer Iarla O Lionaird makes a rare return appearance, with composer John Metcalfe contributing choral arrangements. On "The Mantra" the group is joined by bassist/producer Richard Evans and drummer Ged Lynch, both from Peter Gabriel's touring band. Throughout, Simon Emmerson's presence is unmistakeable -- in the performances, recorded at various studio locations including his own home, and in the over-arching spirit and passion of the music he loved so much. With every spellbinding layered atmosphere, every rousing anthemic song, every poignant, ethereal soundscape, his singular vision endures.

Out Now- "Lockdown Reel", the latest single from the forthcoming new album by Afro Celt Sound System.

On Oct. 4th, Afro Celt Sound System make their label debut on Six Degrees Records with OVA, the Grammy-nominated group's eighth studio album and the final one with their late founder at the helm -- producer and lead guitarist Simon Emmerson, who lost his battle with cancer last year, after competing work on the new album.

"Lockdown Reel", the third and final single to be released before the full album drops is a propulsive dive into the unique blend of Celtic and African sounds that define the band.

In the wake of the album's release, Afro Celt Soundsystem will embark on an extensive UK tour, celbrating the new record and the musical legacy of Simon Emmerson.

Gavin Hardkiss / Hawke- Inheritance 1

This is the first in a series of EP releases as part of the 17 song album titled Inheritance.

Inheritance tracks Gavin’s life from growing up in South Africa through the San Francisco Hardkiss era of the ‘90s to his current multi-genre productions.

The project is a Basquiat-like collage of sounds inherited along the way.

Sounds heard as a boy through his second floor bedroom window in Johannesburg. Sounds heard in dusty warehouses throughout America in the ‘90s. Snippets of conversation through the years alongside Instagram grabs.

Sonova is all about the pocket. Canadian producer Andrew McPherson’s latest musical identity is a fanboy’s tip o’ the hat to 80’s and 90’s groove music - heady days when the mix of funk, jazz, dub, reggae, downtempo, and breakbeat brought a unified front of uplift and chill vibes to hungry ears and hips. When labels like Ninja Tune, Astralworks, K7, Island, Acid Jazz, Blue Note and Verve all lead the pack with fresh mixes where funk, dub and downtempo rubbed up against jazz and latin breaks, B-movie soundtracks and soul odysseys.

Fans of Six Degrees Records will recognize Andrew from his other Distributed Artist projects, global fusionists Eccodekand ambient sonic shapeshifters, Peppermoth. With Sonova, Andrew distills his passion for groove over a series of 3 ep’s, titled ‘Future Grateful’ Vol. 1-3. Simmering in the tracks are the hazy days in the UK and Europe, when producers and dj’s birthed a musical movement of blunted beats to move the room. But Sonova’s story actually began in those influential years when, in 1999, Andrew wrote, produced but never released, a 10-track album fuelled by the buzz of St.Germain and the British acid jazz scene. Flash forward 25 years and he’s updated the musical blueprint with 8 new tracks, creating a musical bookend to the original 10. Joyful, funky and life affirming pocket for desperate times.
