How To Go Vegan

Friends, After some consideration I've decided to delete my personal Facebook acct and sign off Facebook within the next week which also means retiring this page How To Go Vegan. Veganism is growing exponentially every year. At this stage, it is unstoppable and is no longer a fringe philosophy but we must keep pushing forward because there's still much work to be done. It's very important we continue to spread this important ethical position for reasons of justice and nonviolence. For our species to evolve and for there to be peace on the planet, it is vitally important we strive for a vegan planet. It is a matter of survival for us all. We will never know peace while we continue to use animals. Please continue to educate others and to share my website HowToGoVegan.org. Thank you for all your support.

Friends In the coming year 2022, please be present. Being in the moment in hard times is becoming increasingly important. Living in the present is beneficial for us personally and this in turn will benefit others. It allows us to be grateful and experience how wonderful it is to be alive and to greet each new experience and interaction without baggage and judgement.

There is often an opportunity for vegan education. Be skilful. Do not shame or judge. That does not mean we should be mealy mouthed either. We always need to be clear and never promote the idea of "baby steps", gimmicks, vegetarianism or "humane" animal products. etc. We always need to be morally consistent just as we would be clear if we were talking about any principled position - anti-racism etc.

Most people believe animals morally matter and that means they already have the seeds of veganism. Even just stating you are vegan is powerful. If someone asks why you are vegan or feels cognitive dissonance and mocks or challenges you. Keep cool. Remember that it is better that someone is curious or has some kind of response, than it is to be indifferent. Each instance is different and requires skilfulness to deal with it. There's usually an opportunity within that space to state that sentient animals are not our resources or our property.

Even if there is no opportunity for engagement, the time is wrong etc, remember it is a powerful statement to simply be vegan at a time where many still live unconsciously and are still stuck in the herd mentality.

As Donald Watson suggested, we also need to expand our definition of nonviolence.

Don't despair.

One day the sun will rise on a vegan planet.
