Chinquapin Literary Magazine Chinquapin is the longest running literary magazine at UC Santa Cruz since 1979. We annually publish SEND YOUR SUBMISSIONS TO https://chinquapinucsc.com/submit/.

Please check our website at the beginning of each academic year for the annual submission deadline. Submissions are only open to currently enrolled undergraduates at UC Santa Cruz. We accept all types of work that can be printed in a magazine such as short fiction, poetry, visual art (paintings, photography, sketches, digital art, etc.) or creative work that defies a definition or category. Only s

The time has finally come: Chinquapin is officially accepting submissions for the 2021-22 academic year! If you’d like to possibly see your work in this year’s edition of our anthology, our deadline to submit is February 10, 2021 🌼

In honor of Asian-American Pacific Islander (AA/PI) Heritage Month, Chinquapin invites you to read a passage from the notable novel, “The Gangster We Are All Looking For” by the beloved Asian-American author, Lê Thi Diem Thúy.

By sharing this part of Thúy’s novel, we encourage the Chinquapin community, larger UCSC community and beyond to read, learn, and feel inspired by the stories and experiences so many Asian-American writers like Thúy write and share with the world.

Happy Asian-American Pacific Islander Month, everyone!

As a student media organization at UC Santa Cruz, we at Chinquapin Literary Magazine would like to take a moment and show our solidarity towards the AA/PI community. We hope that even in spite of the injustices this community and other POC communities continue to face everyday, this post inspires you to create change in your own communities whether it be in personal, professional, or academic spaces.

With that said, let us move forward this month, and in every month throughout the year, to support one another and lift each other up. Thank you for reading.

Chinquapin Literary Magazine is open for submissions!

We accept all types of work that can be printed in a magazine such as short fiction, poetry, visual art (paintings, photography, sketches, digital art, etc.) or creative work that defies a definition or category. For instructions on how to submit to our mag, contact us at [email protected] Fiction, non-fiction and poetry pieces should be no longer than 1000 words (12 point font double spaced) and submitted in .doc or .docx format. NO PDF. Art and photography should be submitted in a TIFF, JPG/JPEG, or PNG file. You may submit up to 3 pieces total for consideration. All submissions are read blind, so names should not be included within the body or file name of the document. If there are any questions about the submission guidelines or any other concerns we can be reached at [email protected] DEADLINE: JANUARY 31st
