I've been gone a while, but now I'm back! New episode will drop this weekend!
Another look at the log cabin chandelier. The wheel is from a horse-drawn hay rake that belonged to my grandfather. I discovered it in the ruins of what was once his log barn. I'm guessing that he discarded it there after the rim had become damaged. It's held up incredibly well over these past decades!
Smoke from the Canadian wildfires continues to thicken, so I began thinning the trees around the cabin...just to be safe. I also built a rustic chandelier fr...
Taking a short coffee break at the log cabin, before getting back to work.
As the smoke from the Canadian wildfires thickens, I'm thinking that thinning some of the trees around the cabin would be wise.
It's time to make something with this old wagon wheel that I discovered on my dad's childhood homestead.
My work continues. What project do you think I should tackle next on the log cabin?

Here's the sink I cut from a natural stone. Look at those beautiful rose quartz veins!
Cutting a natural stone sink for the cabin bathroom. It was hard work, but the end result is worth it!

I'm building a bathroom inside the cabin! (As opposed to having an outhouse.)
The advantage of an outhouse is that it leaves more space within the cabin.
But when it's the middle of a cold winter's night, an indoor bathroom is way more convenient and comfortable. Especially if you have little ones. 🙂
My Dad and I have always dreamed of building our very own log cabin. When we started, I had no idea how important and profound this build would become to me....
I've been working on a big episode (2 hours long), which documents the last year dad and I spent working on the cabin together. It's been bittersweet...reflecting on the profound impact he's had upon my life. The cabin itself is a symbol of that incredible legacy.
The episode will go live this Saturday. Until then, my friends!

After a month of being away, I'm back at the log cabin! I'm closing up the eaves today while the epoxy door cures back at the workshop. My next episode will be ready in 2 or 3 weeks. By then, the epoxy door will be finished and ready to install!
Throwback to several winters ago. ...Thankful for the giant on who's shoulders I now stand. ..To those who'll be entering the New Year with an empty chair at the table: it's okay to cry, it's okay to laugh, it's good to talk about them...and when words fail, a hug will do just fine. 🙂 As the great folk philosopher Red Green said: Keep your stick on the ice, we're all in this together.

Getting ready for winter with a pair of insulated shutters. Plus, I built a unique door for the cabin with 170lbs of clear epoxy and milled cedar. New episode will drop tomorrow on my YouTube channel!
Whoops! My poor camera had a run-in with the sawmill.
..The sawmill won. 😅
I will be pouring the epoxy for the door today. Here goes nothing!
It seems like every autumn I'm rushing to finish a project before it gets too cold. Three years ago, it was to get the roof on before the snow. Two years ago, it was to daub and mortar between the courses before the frost. This year, I need to pour the epoxy for the back door.
Who else has a project that they're trying to complete before the cold weather arrives?
I'm building a tree into the cabin door! Episode is now live on my YouTube channel.
