Our Story

On May 25th, 2009 while attending college I created this page out of a desire to help others. I had a deep inner longing to share with others that we can move from the depths of despair to live an enlightening life. Over the past 9 years I have received countless messages, messages from people that Positive Energy has provided them with hope when they felt there was none left. It brings tears to my eyes thinking back nearly 10 years ago when I was in such a desperate situation to stay alive. I always felt alone, different, and believed I was not like everyone else. I had a lisp, learning difficulties, impulsive behaviors and a desire to feel loved. I eventually dropped out of high school and struggled through my early 20’s with addictions, relationship issues and still the feeling of not belonging. I found it very difficult to find hope. When I was 13 years old my mother ended her life. I made a promise to myself that I would not do the same despite unsettling and feelings of discontent. When I was 29 years old an event had taken place that catapulted me into action. I was introduced to a place where people believed in me and showed me that I could do anything I ever wanted. Over the past 10 years, I have made some dramatic changes and can say that I truly love myself today. I graduated high school and at the moment I’m still attending post-secondary education. I never thought university was an option and here I am with less than a year to go. I am so thankful for each and every person that has believed in me. The speech therapist in my younger years, the people who showed me that I could go back to school, and all the amazing people who lifted me up when I was down and kept encouraging me not to give up. I am especially grateful for two men who have clearly saved my life. Michael and Walter brought me into “The Hidden Gem,” a therapeutic community home for men recovering from addiction. They taught me everyday for just over 2 years how to transform and reshape my life. Unfortunately, after 13 years of solely running on donations the Hidden Gem had to close down. After 13 years of dedicating their lives to so many people they moved to Sheffield, England where they opened up a serene and tranquil delicatessen in Grenoside named the “Highland Sage”. It still chokes me up thinking about this...I am forever grateful for these two wonderful men showing me that I can change, and never giving up on me. After officially graduating from university, my dream is to provide hope and healing for anyone looking for it. My wish is that no one should ever lose hope. Briefly, there is only one thing I know for sure. No matter what your situation, the things you have been through, or the barriers you may have, it is always possible to change your life and follow your dreams. Just don’t ever give up.
