Springboro VFD is holding is 1st annual Halloween Cash Bash that is going to be held at our station on Saturday, October 12th, 2024. The doors will open at 2 p.m. and the first drawing will be at 3 p.m.. Food and beverages are included with your ticket. Lawrence E. Taylor, age 80, of Aspen Way, Jamestown, passed away peacefully Friday June 21, 2024, in UPMC Hamot. He was born in Albion, PA on January 10, 1944, to Glenn and Lydia (Snyder) Taylor.

Lawrence was a 1962 graduate of Northwestern High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1965- 1967. He completed a four-year machinist apprenticeship with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in Sharon, and he retired in 2000 as a supervisor in the machine shop of the former R.D. Werner Company in Greenville, where he had been employed for 29 years. Lawrence was a life member of the Jamestown V.F.W. Post #5424 and had recently become active at the Greenville Senior Center. He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, camping, reading, trips to the casino and most of all, spending time with his family.

On June 24, 1967, he married the former Kathy D. Po***ck she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Lynn M. Scovil and her husband Glenn of Jamestown; two sons, Jeffrey S. Taylor of Jamestown and Chad M. Taylor and his wife Dayna of Diamondhead, MS; a sister Janice Payne of West Springfield, PA and five grandchildren, Nicholas Scovil, Mason Scovil, Seth Taylor, Lauren Taylor, and Azlyn Salas; two sisters-in-law, Madolyn Taylor and Joann Taylor and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and four brothers.

Per Lawrence’s request, cremation was chosen and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenville Senior Center; 45 Alan Ave., Greenville, PA 16125. Arrangements have been entrusted to Loutzenhiser-Randall Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown

We ended the season with 38 active, healthy athletes - and we are celebrating the success of the 20 (more than half the team!) that will join us at the PIAA District 10 Class AA Championships Meet next Saturday at Slippery Rock University. Northwestern will represent across an incredible 14 boys and girls events. Any athletes that finish in the top 2 of their event OR meet the State Qualifying Standard and finish in the top 8 of their event head to Shippensburg for PIAA State Track and Field Championships the following week. Congratulations to all, and good luck to all!

The Raisian Family and Staff extend our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of
JOAN ELROSE EATON

Joan Elrose Eaton of Conneaut, passed on to her heavenly home, on her 88th birthday, May 12, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Joan was born May 12, 1936, in Erie, PA., the daughter of Lloyd and Gladys (Hines) Hollister. She was a 1955 Northwestern High graduate and later worked for many years as a special education aide at the Northwestern School District until she retired.

Joan was a small but strong determined, loving woman. She cherished her family and loved getting them all together. She made everyone feel welcome and that they fit in. She was very forgiving and non-judgmental.

Joan loved to play golf and shared that love of golf with her grandchildren and great grandchildren by taking them golfing. She started and played in the Joan Eaton Family Golf Classic for 15 years. She also loved to bowl and garden. She enjoyed playing the piano while singing with friends and family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Lloyd Hollister, sisters Doris Becker, Lois Emler and Donna Knepp.

Joan is survived by her husband Harry A Eaton, whom she married Jan 3, 1986, two daughters Laura and Gary Fobes of Albion, Pa., Lisa and Chris Connelly of Butler, Pa., three sons Randy and Denise Hites of Albion, Pa., David and Rolanda Hites of Girard, Pa., Larry and Jessica Hites of Albion, Pa., sisters Barbara Gido of Girard, Pa., her twin sister, Joyce King of Bellview, Texas, Linda and Joseph Chromik of Northeast, Pa., Violet Detrick of Ca., along with 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are stepchildren Lorie and Troy Dalrymple, Saybrook, Jackie and Jon Brady, Conneaut, Kimberly and Trevor Rockwell of Kingsville, Butch (Harry Jr) and Terri Eaton of Conneaut, Douglas and Heather Eaton of Conneaut, 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, 4:00 p.m., May 18, 2024, at the Albion Nazarene Church, 9578 U.S. Rt 6, Albion, PA.,16401. A dinner will follow at the church for family and friends.

Memorial contributions in Joan’s memory can be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44106. For flowers bring a small potted yellow flower to plant for our Mom.

Raisian Funeral Home, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut, have been entrusted with her arrangements.
