Notes -
- The first thing I want to stress is that I don't believe there exists a "perfect last show playlist." It simply can't be done. I could have sat there DJ'ing all night long and it wouldn't have been enough, I know I would have missed something. But I'll be damned if I didn't do the best I possibly could with this one.
- I didn't want to overthink it. I consciously played a lot of old favorites, some new favorites, some songs I've never played before but always wanted to, and once again, some songs of the friends I made over the last six years.
- The song by Puscifer was dedicated to "Jeremy the Tool Guy," one of my biggest fans, as well as to anyone who has ever made a request on my show. Jeremy only ever requested songs by bands involving Maynard James Keenan - This time, I beat him to the punch.
- In case you missed the news, after six-plus years of on-air debauchery, thousands of bands and songs, and over 200 episodes, I'm finally hanging it up on WIDR fm. I now live in Lansing and am unable to continue the show in this format. There are no similar opportunities in Lansing to keep the show going on a different station, so as it stands right now, The Splatterhouse is over with.
- Maybe someday I'll be able to keep this show going on a different station, or possibly an exclusively online format. But after six years of doing this show nearly every Friday, whether live or pre-recorded, I'm ready for a long break.
- I know I say this all the time, but I can never thank EVERYONE for EVERYTHING over the last six years. The bands, the artists, the promoters, the venues, the labels, the fans, the listeners, the callers, the staff of WIDR FM, and every single other person my show managed to reach in some capacity. It's what kept me going for this long, and I will be eternally grateful for having this experience.
- I will still be working with WIDR FM to some degree. I will still be writing freelance for their blog from time to time, which is where you'll be able to catch my festival reviews and other works. I might make a more fleshed-out farewell post on that blog, so keep an eye on the page for any of my future works.
I guess that's all I have to say for right now.
One more time - Thank YOU, dear listener, for enjoying my work. I couldn't have done it without you.
This has been The Splatterhouse, and this is [DJWILLKILL], signing off of WIDR FM, for the last time.
Good night.
And goodbye,
- [DJWILLKILL]
