Exciting news on my end - I'll be doing an on-air radio segment for the "Ancient Air" special of WIDR fm tonight! That's when WIDR brings in a whole bunch of former WIDR DJ's for the day, and I'll be shutting it down with the last segment at 11 pm EST! 89.1 WIDR FM on your dial in Kalamazoo, or stream on "The WIDR App" on smartphones and tablets! Join me as I step out of retirement for another hour of on-air debauchery!

🎙 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
I haven't done anything radio-related since the last episode of my show in February when I moved. But this Thursday, September 22, will mark the 70-year anniversary of WIDR fm, and there will be a full day of programming to celebrate! So I'm excited to announce that I'll be stepping out of retirement for ONE HOUR ONLY to close down the celebration. My set will be the final one of the night, 11 PM Eastern Time. Nothing fancy, just one hour of awesome music and on-air debauchery.

Plus, DJ Shadowplay of The Eleventh Hour with DJ Shadowplay will be stepping out of retirement too! She'll be on at 10 PM, the set before me.

I wouldn't feel right if I didn't participate in such an important milestone, so I'm excited that I get to do this again!

89.1 WIDR FM on your dial in Kalamazoo, or www.widrfm.net for streaming online! See you soon!

- The first thing I want to stress is that I don't believe there exists a "perfect last show playlist." It simply can't be done. I could have sat there DJ'ing all night long and it wouldn't have been enough, I know I would have missed something. But I'll be damned if I didn't do the best I possibly could with this one.

- I didn't want to overthink it. I consciously played a lot of old favorites, some new favorites, some songs I've never played before but always wanted to, and once again, some songs of the friends I made over the last six years.

- The song by Puscifer was dedicated to "Jeremy the Tool Guy," one of my biggest fans, as well as to anyone who has ever made a request on my show. Jeremy only ever requested songs by bands involving Maynard James Keenan - This time, I beat him to the punch.

- In case you missed the news, after six-plus years of on-air debauchery, thousands of bands and songs, and over 200 episodes, I'm finally hanging it up on WIDR fm. I now live in Lansing and am unable to continue the show in this format. There are no similar opportunities in Lansing to keep the show going on a different station, so as it stands right now, The Splatterhouse is over with.

- Maybe someday I'll be able to keep this show going on a different station, or possibly an exclusively online format. But after six years of doing this show nearly every Friday, whether live or pre-recorded, I'm ready for a long break.

- I know I say this all the time, but I can never thank EVERYONE for EVERYTHING over the last six years. The bands, the artists, the promoters, the venues, the labels, the fans, the listeners, the callers, the staff of WIDR FM, and every single other person my show managed to reach in some capacity. It's what kept me going for this long, and I will be eternally grateful for having this experience.

- I will still be working with WIDR FM to some degree. I will still be writing freelance for their blog from time to time, which is where you'll be able to catch my festival reviews and other works. I might make a more fleshed-out farewell post on that blog, so keep an eye on the page for any of my future works.

I guess that's all I have to say for right now.

One more time - Thank YOU, dear listener, for enjoying my work. I couldn't have done it without you.

This has been The Splatterhouse, and this is [DJWILLKILL], signing off of WIDR FM, for the last time.

Good night.

And goodbye,

- [DJWILLKILL]

Quick update for what's going on this Friday. First, starting at 10 PM, you can tune in to hear the final episode of The Eleventh Hour with DJ Shadowplay. After that, I will be spinning the final Splatterhouse episode from 11 pm to 1 am (eastern time). Again, this is subject to change based on weather and other factors, but this is the current plan. See you soon!

Last Friday, I spun an hour-long set at 5 p.m. kicking off the WIDR ALL NIDR on WIDR fm, which is where the station DJ's spin all the way through to 7 a.m. the next day! See below for the playlist, and enjoy!

Splatterhouse Bonus Episode - "WIDR ALL NIDR 2022"

Intro:
Zwaremachine - Zero Containment

Angelspit - Don't Know Zero (Planetdamage Remix)
GINGER SNAP5 - Judgement Night
ACID CASUALTY - Climb Out of the Hole and Fight
iVardensphere - Ragemaker (Slighter Remix)

Cassetter, OVRGRWN - Through the Lights (Donbor Remix)
Mono Memory - Yearning for Dark Shadows (Resident Evil Village)
Savoy - Prey for New York
Scandroid - Dark Tide (feat. Megan McDuffee)

Mindless Faith - Moth Without a Moon

Outro:
Perturbator - Excess (OddZoo Remix)

Notes:
- I haven't been a part of the WIDR ALL NIDR special since at least 2018, so it was great to join in before my final show this Friday. Looks like you guys got one more bonus set out of me before my last stand!

- This segment was prerecorded, and while I was making it, I realized I undershot the playlist. I was intending to close with Mindless Faith but came up short, so Perturbator ended up being the real outro.

- My final show, which marks official episode number 220, is still scheduled for this Friday, March 4 at 11 p.m. Eastern Time. This time and date is subject to change based on weather and other factors.

- Make sure you tune in at 10 p.m. before me for the final episode of The Eleventh Hour with DJ Shadowplay, as well.

That's all for now, everyone. I'll see you soon.

The final Splatterhouse show with WIDR is tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 4 at 11 PM (EST). This date is subject to change based on weather and other outstanding factors. Important Announcement regarding the future of The Splatterhouse -

Hello everyone, [DJWILLKILL] here. This is a very tough post for me to have to write, so please bear with me. I didn't really make any formal public announcements about this either online or on air, but I've officially left Kalamazoo as of last weekend. I now reside in Lansing, MI.

Unfortunately, this means that I no longer have the ability to keep doing The Splatterhouse on WIDR fm. I don't plan on commuting for the show, and there are no similar opportunities in Lansing to keep doing it on a different station. So with that in mind, the show as we know it will be coming to a close very soon.

However, it isn't over yet. In the next few weeks, I will be planning to come back for one final episode done the right way - live and in-person at the studio. I was told I could pre-produce and then send it in, but I want to send the show off properly.

I will have a much more fleshed-out farewell post after that happens. I just wanted to bring this to your attention now so that we're all on the same page.

At this time, I don't know if I'll be continuing the show in an exclusively online format or any other format. After six years and more than 200 episodes of on-air debauchery, I think I'm going to step back and take a break for a while, then reevaluate at a later time.

I know it goes without saying, but I can never thank the fans, bands, artists, labels, listeners, well-wishers and everyone else my show touched enough for your years of support. It means the world to me, and is the main reason why I kept doing it for so long.

That's all for now. Watch this page for updates on when the final send-off show on WIDR FM will take place.

Thanks again for everything.

Best,
- [DJWILLKILL]

Hello everyone - Back again and sharing the weekly WIDR fm newsletter, which features music picks from the DJ's! This time, I selected the new album "See Me Now" by Sierrα, a French synthwave artist who has been on my radar for a minute now. Click the link below to learn more, and the direct link is in the comments.

Also, I do not know if I will be doing a new episode this week, as I might be out of town. I will try to have a stand-in episode air during that time if that's the case. Enjoy!

Here's the playlist from last Friday, where I played all my OTHER favorite songs from 2021. I'm sure there's probably at least one more I forgot about, but either way we're moving on after this one. Enjoy!

Episode 219 - "The Best of 2021, Part 3 - The Wrap-Up"

Intro:
Double Eyelid - Night Prowler

SYLAC (Holon) - Utopian Illusions

Cabaret Voltaire Official - Billion Dollar
Microchip League - Lack of Sense (feat. Cat Hall / Dissonance)

Fear Factory - Disruptor
Matthew Creed - Love is Just Another Stab in the Back - Neikka RPM Remix

OVRGRWN - The Riders
DEADLIFE - Kid from Nowhere
Spray - We'll Look Back on This and Laugh

Outro:
King Klick - Everyday [Whitney Peyton, Hed PE, Chucky Chuck, Dropout Kings, Johnny Richter, Madchild, Obnoxious]

Notes -

- Traditionally, part three of this series every year is for the non-industrial, non-metal songs I enjoyed from the previous year. However, my listening habits changed dramatically in 2021. Metal and most types of Electronic took a backseat to synthwave and cyberpunk music in particular, but Industrial music itself was so awesome in 2021 that I was able to almost make an entire extra show out of it.

- Some of these were tracks I legitimately forgot to play in the last two episodes, and some were tracks that got cut for one reason or another. That does NOT mean these tracks were less memorable than others - it literally just means that 2021 was such an awesome year for music that there was almost TOO MUCH OF IT!

- I guarantee there's probably more stuff I forgot about, but after three episodes of doing this, I'm ready to move on. On the next episode, we will be taking a look at some new releases in 2022!

See you next time!

UPDATE: I changed my mind and will be running my show 10 PM to Midnight (EST) instead. See below information for how to tune in.

Once again, I am very tired and have things to do tomorrow, so I will be starting my radio show at 11 PM (Eastern Time) tonight instead of Midnight. Show runs 11 PM - 1 AM. This time, I'll be recapping all my OTHER favorite releases from 2021 - that is, the stuff I missed in the last two episodes. 89.1 WIDR fm on your dial in Kalamazoo or streaming from www.widrfm.org!

Here's the latest fm newsletter, featuring musical picks by the WIDR DJ's! There's a bit of a typo in this one, but I selected "Ragemaker," the new single by iVardensphere. It's great to hear some new material, and I'm loving the Mad Max Fury Road vibes! Enjoy!

Here's the playlist from last Friday, which was Part 2 of the 2021 Recap Series. This time, I played all my favorite electronic/synthwave releases from last year. See below for notes, and enjoy!

Episode 218 - "Best of 2021, Part 2 - Electronic and Synthwave"

Intro:
FIGURE, Contakt - Babadook

REZZ, PVRIS - Sacrificial
Space Tribe, MEKKANIKKA - Pause of Deception
Scandroid, King Protea - Less Than Zero - Waveshaper Remix
Scandroid, Megan McDuffee - Dark Tide - Cassetter Remix
Cassetter, Whitney Peyton - Won't Be Back

Cassetter - Maestrobot
Megan McDuffee - Possession (Your Love)
Sierrα - By the Rules
FreqGen - Future 1991
Voicians - Cypher
Fury Weekend, Essenger - Automatic Love

Essenger - Divine Virus
Mono Memory - Yearning for Dark Shadows [Resident Evil: Village]
Mega Drive - Outer Recall
Nit Grit - Estranged
FrozenPlasma - Westend - Syst3m Glitch Remix
VHS Glitch - The Journey

Neurotech - Light Betides
Soul Extract - Carrier Signal
3FORCE - Doomsday Codex
Priest - A Signal in the Noise

Outro:
Perturbator - Death of the Soul

Notes -

- Just like Metal, most types of electronic music more or less took a backseat in my listening habits last year. Synthwave and cyberpunk type stuff was by far my electronic genre of choice (minus industrial), as evidenced by this list.

- I'd like to give a huge shoutout to FiXT Records, who provided me with most of the music here. It is by far one of the best labels I've found in the last couple years, and they are consistently putting out great new music every single week!

- Once again, I'd like to say Rest in Peace to Olli Wisdom of Space Tribe and Specimen. Thank you for everything you gave us while you were here.

- Shoutout to Perturbator too. I chose one of the remixes of Excess for my last episode, but this time went with one off the actual Lustful Sacraments album. So far, Perturbator is the only artist to appear in this series twice.

Just goes to show, in a year as crappy as 2021 could be at times, there was still an abundance of awesome music to help us get through.

That's all for now. I'm honestly not sure what the next episode is going to look like yet, but if the last two have been any indication, it'll be another two hours of bangers.

Best,
- [DJWILLKILL]
