Good morning again everybody!
Just wanna go over tomorrow’s snow chances. We touched on this in the morning update, but just wanted to actually get into the deets here a bit.
Clouds will increase going into this evening. Evening plans still look good for your Friday night if you’re going out to eat or headed to downtown Sandusky for their final Christmas market weekend, or whatever you have planned. Over night, clouds will continue, again, tonight will be dry overall, but cloudy.
As we get into the morning hours tomorrow, based on newest guidance, it seems as though west to east, anytime between 7 and 9am, we will have an arctic cold front come through. We may see a burst of snow, along the cold front, if this is the case, we could get a surprise dusting of snow first thing tomorrow morning. As we progress through the day, we will see the real weather maker come through. This will be thanks in large part, to a trough that will dig into the area. Realistically, the trough will be slower to pull through the area, so we won’t see the snow, as a result of this, until afternoon tomorrow. This system has trended north, so the trough won’t dig as far south, in turn giving us high snowfall accumulations in the forecast models. We will see probably, 3-5” near and south of route 30. So southern Richland and Ashland counties, in our area will take the brunt of this snowfall, while the areas to the north and up to the turnpike will likely see about 2-4”, while areas to the north of the turnpike, and up to the lake shore, will see 1-2”. There will be a cut off on these snow totals, that’s just highly dependent on exact track, but right now, over night models and late evening models adjusted the track to confidently show these increase in totals. Overall, it’s nothing that we can’t handle. We will just need to be safe and smart tomorrow afternoon.
All of this said, I won’t be surprised to see winter weather advisories issued for at least Richland and Ashland counties sometime today, or even over night. The snow totals certainly support that idea. We will pass them along when, and if they decide to issue them.
As we see the cold front and Low pressure come through the area, we will see the winds pick up as well. Sustained winds will likely be about 10-20mph with gusts to 30mph. If you’re from around here, you know that, the colder the air, the dryer the snow. Dry snow, is easily blown around, as we saw on Tuesday. Similar conditions will be with us tomorrow. So keep all of this in mind as you make your plans for tomorrow. It won’t be the amount of snow, but the winds too. The falling snow, will be out of the area by tomorrow evening, but the winds will persist.
That’s what we have for you, for tomorrow. We will update as needed.
Enjoy that sunshine out there! Certainly feels good! We will be back in a couple of hours for the afternoon. Update, but spoiler alert, it looks good!
Stay safe!
