Good morning everybody, happy Saturday!
Really needed that sleep. My goodness. My apologies on such a late morning post.
Cloudy skies will be with us this morning, as the outer reaches of clouds from a Low pressure system are extending over the area. The good news, is we will remain dry for this morning, these clouds aren’t anticipated to produce much just yet. Radar does indicate some light rain, or maybe some snow, in Richland and Ashland counties. Those rain, or snow showers likely aren’t hitting the ground, but the potential is there. Otherwise, it’s quiet across the area for now.
As the Low pressure moves closer to the area, some short term models are bringing it together with one to our east, and making it into one big Low pressure system. This will allow for a deepening Low pressure system out there, and as it does so, winds will begin to get gusty. I don’t think they’ll be as bad as yesterday, as the center of the Low pressure will be well to our east, but we will keep an eye on that. Rain showers will also develop this afternoon, and be scattered about the area, early this afternoon. Rainfall will be light, and the heaviest rain should be to our east. But, the entire area should get into some rain this afternoon, and it’ll vary in intensity.
This evening rain should become more widespread across the area. Again, rainfall amounts will generally be light across the local area, so I don’t think we see flooding concerns, but if we have a heavier shower or two, some ponding on the roads will be possible. A cold front will swing through with the rain showers this evening, and this should change over the rain to snow showers. This should mostly be a lake effect event, though a couple of the short term models do indicate we could see some snow squalls over the area this evening, before it does transition to lake effect. This could cause some slick roads out there, as well as a quick inch of accumulation. I really think it’s looking likely that we do get some lingering snow showers at least, I’m not sold on snow squalls though, but we will keep an eye on things and update if needed.
Overnight tonight we will get all precipitation to come to an end. Lorain county should get into some of that lake effect and pick up 1-2” of snow tonight before it shifts east out of the area. Again, lake effect snow is really hard to pinpoint and forecast, so eastern Erie and Huron counties could see some snow linger as well into the over night. Again, we will keep an eye on this, and update as needed. Otherwise, most of us should be clear of the precipitation by midnight, and conditions should dry out and continue to do so into Sunday morning. Cloudy skies will remain with us, as well, into the over night hours. We could get some breaks in those clouds over head as the Low pressure system takes off out of the area.
Highs today will reach into the mid 40s prior to the cold front swinging through this evening. Temps will fall back into the 30s after the front passes through. Lows tonight will drop back into the low to mid 20s.
Have a great day out there! We will see you soon enough for the afternoon update. Stay safe out there!
