Mr Asabere aka Kwame is the founder of The Music Suite (TMS), a global community for audiophiles, connoisseurs, and tastemakers who share a deep passion for diverse musical genres, from soul and hip hop to house, reggae, and beyond. Inspired by his father’s vinyl collection, Mr Asabere’s love for music began at an early age, leading him to establish TMS in March 2014. The Music Suite is a haven for those with a powerful connection to music, offering a space where kindred spirits can connect, appreciate, and celebrate both timeless classics and future hits. Since its inception, TMS has played a key role in the discovery and rise of artists like Jorja Smith, H.E.R, and Jordan Rakei, while also honoring the legacies of legends such as Aretha Franklin, Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder. Additionally, the community has championed the works of renowned remixers and producers like Masters at Work, Joey Negro, J Dilla, and DJ Premier. A passionate music collector, Patrick have been playing on the London music scene since the late 80’s, where he gained a reputation for being a diverse music selector. He was a member of a soul collective called Confunktion playing warehouse parties in and around London and more recently worked alongside Mucho Soul, Wah Wah 45, Mi Casa Su Casa, and The Handson Family. He is a regular guest Dj at Brixton Village Lates and world famous BBE Record Store and presents 2 radio shows on Global Soul Radio and RealHouse Radio Patrick has played at various music festivals at home and abroad including Shapes Festival (Switzerland) Soul in the Algarve (Portugal), Sarau (Portugal) Vocal Booth (Spain) the Cork Jazz Festival (Ireland) and Suncebeat in (Croatia). In 2018 Patrick won the Mixcloud listeners choice award for the best Soul/Funk show. Among his many achievements, Brother James scored his biggest hit to date with “I Know That Love Is Here” on Raising Records, which secured a top 3 chart placing on the Traxsource Soulful House chart. Mr Asabere, founder of The Music Suite (TMS), is ultimately a music enthusiast whose introduction to music was gained through his father’s vinyl collection. This collection included artists as diverse as Frank Zappa, Fela Kuti, Aretha Franklin, Isaac Hayes, Bee Gees, Bob Marley, and David Bowie, as well as the production excellence of legendary producers Gamble & Huff and the songwriting penmanship of Ashford & Simpson. By reading the album credits of these artists, he would join the dots musically and memorize the studios where the albums were recorded, along with the engineers and session musicians listed. Yes, he is that musical geek. Come and see what he will serve up at the musical haven that is the BBE store.

TMS Takeover -Paul Martin

Paul Martin started off as dancer and DJ in London’s clubs in the 1980’s. He also He worked in the cult Soho record shop Black Market whilst DJing at classic clubs like the WAG, Iceni and internationally. He then joined Gilles Peterson’s Talkin Loud record label and worked closely with him in A&R signing acts like Mercury prize winning RoniSize/Reprazent,4hero, MJ Cole, Krust and Nuyorican Soul. After Talkin Loud he continued in A&R at Gut records and V2 records. He is currently an academic running a Music Performance course at Bucks New University as well as continuing some A&R consultancy and managing various music acts whilst researching a PhD on A&R and Black British music and culture especially of the two decades from 1980-2000. He is also writing and developing fiction and non-fiction books.

Music is my first true love, before I knew the true meaning of the word. Growing up in a Jamaican household my musical foundational was rooted in Roots and Reggae (Beres Hammond, Prince Buster and Jimmy Cliff). My sisters built on this, with their addiction to Soul and Rare Groove, from Anita Baker, Luther Vandross to Loose Ends. My musical blueprint started in Hip Hop and I have always felt privileged growing up in the golden era; Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, J Dilla, Gangstarr and Snoop Dogg all influenced my listening ear today. My gift once honed means it impossible for me to ever stop listening to music! Mixing these genres together with Bassline, Classical, Drum & Bass, Dub, House and R & B with a sprinkle of Commerical hits ensures the bombardment of music also keeps my record box jam packed.
