I didn't realize that I would lose the concept of time and space so quickly, that I would often look for an exit to get lost in the context I am in, to be unnoticed, and that all this urge would settle in me with a greater weight than any other stray feeling. When I realized how far I have gone so far on the chain of time and events which I thought I was slowly moving on, had already reached to an endless waterfall. There is no way to slow down anymore.

Now I have a hard time connecting myself to the present tense again. I can see with my own eyes; the flow, collapse and disappearance of time, events and people around me. No, I'm not doing this out of my own volition, perhaps I'm out of control. Strange thing to know what keeps one alive.

I know it's not far anymore. My mind, purged of all pure feelings and hopes, will desire to create a god out of sheer need. When there is no hand to kiss and no face to touch, I will not stop dipping my hands in the mud.

Today, I have been living in the middle of the forest for more than 5 months. Except for the days I visit the closest city that has just over 17 thousand inhabitants -I call this city metropolis-, on an average day, I see more animals than people. There are some exceptions. Some days are just crazy that I can see even 10 people. Well, this is an exception as I mentioned.

Once, all the sentences I made to describe loneliness -which is fundamental of any individual- were used to start with “people”. In the city that I was used to sharing with almost 20 million people, not only my sentences were made of people. I tried any possible way to breathe ,since to me even air was also made of people.

Since then, a lot has changed. I still can’t stay in the cities for more than a week. Light, silence, water, forest, and more often other biped animals substituted all the terms and words made of people. I’m happy -sometimes. Since happiness is brief, I would describe what I feel as “freedom”.

Soon, reindeer will head southeast. They already have the route in their genes.

These photos are from the last weeks' trip we made to capture reindeer and northern lights in the wilderness of Swedish Lapland.

Sun is setting around 14 nowadays. Soon I'll not be able to see the sun for more than a month. No I have missed snow more.

What I love about where I am living is, the contrast. Colors, temperature, lights and textures are almost rapidly changing.

Daylight has leaked through the rivers and now it's the green lady's turn.

Thank you for this beautiful photo - beautiful, just because I don't look into camera 😅

Formations of the sub-arctic landscape always fascinate me. I named this photo series "Neptune".

Neptune is known as the god of fresh water in Roman Mythology. In Norse myths, Neptune corresponds to Aegir/Ägir. Although people assigned similar meaning to these gods, while Neptune is one of the planets in the constellation, Aegir is one of the moons of over 60 moons of Saturn.

Northern Lights has always been more than just colorful dancing light. In history, some found them frightening, while some see the women warriors of Odin when northern lights enlighten the dark night.

While colors are changing from green to purple, human imagination sometimes draws whales spouting water and sometimes a fox whose tail twinkles fire.

I planned a short workshop based on Nightscape&Mythology!

On a day with a clear sky, we will take astrophotos together and talk about the hidden connections between the stars and the planets.

You will learn;

-camera settings for astrophotography
-compositions
-and the ancient tales of the sky

I will be personally mentoring you during this workshop. The best part is we will be enjoying the sauna by the lake, after the workshop.

I also offer a 25% discount for the first 4 people who would like to be the first participants of this workshop!

Send me a message if you are interested!

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
--
Whenever an aircraft passes above me since I was a kid, I can't keep my head down with an urge to see. I remember this urge turned into imagination over time. I imagined myself in one of those aircraft whenever I hear they are passing by. Over time, I understood that this urge that kept my head up was not to fly but to understand.

Since my young age -perhaps I still am- I needed to know adequate connections to understand any subject. It could be a basic plant in the backyard we never had or a Reynolds number that I had to calculate. If I was curious about flying, I had to know how does it feel. Then one day, on a crossword puzzle, I figured out that this urge to learn means "curiosity".

This is how it all started. With this urge to learn, when I look up to the sky at night, I don't only see glorious Milkway or some satellites flowing smoothly. I see shrinking Chronos with his son Zeus that shines brighter and bigger than his father. He was used to be bigger at the times people pray more. Sometimes I stare at the beauty of Andromeda and I know how she feels under the wings of Pegasus.
All these connections from history made me understand human beings better. I have circled some objects, I could capture in one of my photos. Is there anyone who can name these 4 objects?

And also if you like to learn more about the tales that stars tell us with photography, don't hesitate to reach out.

Filming, photographing, and seeking proof of living.

I haven’t seen many mountains in my life. In fact, even though I have grown up in a small town surrounded by a range of mountains, I was not aware of them. Mountains were not the only thing I was not aware of.

I might have had a childhood full of drama and trauma. Therefore all the stories of mine - even the ones I haven’t lived yet - are somehow started when I was a kid. I don’t know when I was a kid and when I have stopped being one. When someone stops being a kid? What is “old enough”, what is the recipe for being an adult, and when is the best time to get away from your family. As you can see, even for myself, it’s not so easy to follow up on my questions.

All the answers to these questions - in fact, this is just a fragment of the mass - have started shaping when I’m introduced to the mountains. I remember the sky was lit by the Milkyway and my mind was pitch dark with my questions. All alone, watching the hills stretching up to the sky somehow led me to understand that I’m not bigger and yet not smaller than any of the stars I was staring at. I was not that important but yet not that insignificant just like the hills rising up to space. That was the moment I felt that I’m nothing but a part of this cycle. The cycle of life and death, rise and fall, bright and dark.

Whenever I feel stuck with questions, I know where to go. Sometimes, just a single picture I took or a film I recorded in the mountains reminds me of who I am. This time it has been Sarek. "There is something inside me. "
