Amtrak GE P42DC 38 leads Amtrak Piedmont Train 73 through Durham, NC.

Due to a locomotive shortage of the Piedmont fleet from train accidents and mechanical issues, The NCDOT has leased 2 P42DCs (33 & 38) from Amtrak so they can repair the fleet. The P42DCs will be here long term as it is likely that the majority of the NCDOT fleet will be sent for overhaul.

Aberdeen Carolina & Western Railway (ACWR) ran their special train today for the US Open. This included the first run of Engine 87 and a transfer caboose. Engine 87 is a former CSX AC6000CW turned to a locomotive bar. ACWR E9A 103 (Ex UP, Amtrak, etc.) led the train and ACWR F7A 271 (Ex NS) brought up the rear. Specials will be run next week while the US Open is ongoing.
