Play Morricone For Me welcomes Art Pierce, Executive Director of the Capitol Theatre, and Ben Model, silent film accompanist extraordinaire and champion of the medium. Art gives us a preview of Capitolfest 2023 (Fri 8/11 - Sun 8/13,) the next best thing to having a time machine - it’s three solid days of silent films and early 30’s talkie features and shorts, projected on carbon arc 35mm, in Rome NY's glorious art deco movie palace. Ben Model, one of four accompanists to the silent features, discusses bringing classic film into the 21st century, not only through his live performances, but through his boutique label’s DVD releases, his Silent Comedy Livestream, his podcast, and other forms of “audience preservation.” Plus, a look back at John Williams Film Night at Tanglewood, mucho music, and more.

Farewell to the incomparable Carl Davis. Perhaps the greatest silent film re-scorer ever, but not to be overlooked are his many scores to contemporary films and series, like PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and THE FRENCH LIEUTENANT'S WOMAN, not to mention, the snazziest dresser of all classical composer/conductors.
