🚨 Beware scam calls claiming to be from the Washington Metropolitan Police Dept.! We received 2 calls today, and it can be scary. Remember, never give out personal info, never go anywhere the scammer asks, never pay money.

Read what happened:

This was a new one. Both my wife and I received separate phones around the same time from a man claiming to be a “Washington DC police officer” and telling us that we have a warrant for our arrest for a missed court date.

Presser by MPD Chief Smith on this afternoon's shooting. Officer (MPD Captain with 18-years on the job) was on his way to work, plain clothes, car in front of him was driving erratically, stopped, shot at the officer. He got a partial plate, PG County found the 2 suspects (1 shooter). Non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the Mayor's office, an MPD officer was shot ("grazed by a bullet") while sitting in his car at 7th Street NW and Oneida Place NW. The officer has non-life threatening injuries. He called the 4th District Headquarters and a helicopter tracked the suspects out of DC. MPD partnered with PG County police and apprehended the suspects in PC County, MD.
