Cinna Peyghamy ( Cinna Peyghamy ) is a composer and sound artist, born in France to Iranian parents.
At the center of his setup is the tombak, a traditional Iranian percussion instrument. By combining it with the endless possibilities of the modular synthesizer, Cinna blends the boundaries between acoustic and electronic, between traditional and contemporary. During his improvised live set, he builds a dialogue between these two sonic entities and explores the never-ending improvisation field created by this hybrid setup.
His album titled “The Skin In Between” will be available this Wednesday on Zabte Sote’s BandCamp page.
Pre-order is available now.

Composer: Milad Mardakheh Milad Mardakheh
Album: Random Walks
Label: Zabte Sote
Video: Ehsan Hematy & Milad Mardakheh
Excerpt from artist statement:
Through “Random Walks”, I invite listeners to embark on a sonic exploration which traverses cultural and perceptual boundaries, and embraces the conceptual dialogues between the performer and the computer, the familiar and the unexpected, chaos and order, the past and the present, tradition and innovation, and belonging and alienation.
At the heart of this album lies a profound fascination with the interplay between human creativity and the intricate world of computer-generated random numbers. The compositions serve as dialogues between myself as the composer and various random generator algorithms such as Brownian Motion - where the term Random Walk derives. Through the writing process, I often found myself capturing and conversing with moments where through the seeming chaos and unpredictable forces, unexpected musical landscapes, and new paths of artistic expression emerged. The algorithms act as co-creators, shaping and influencing the musical outcome in real-time, and the resulting symbiotic relationship between human intention and computational serendipity adds an element of unpredictability and spontaneity which aligns well with improvisation and musical spontaneity.

Delighted to announce “Random Walks” by Iranian composer, sound-artist, programmer and researcher Milad Mardakheh on Zabte Sote.

Random Walks explores improvisation, random number generators, computer music and Persian classical music. This exploration juxtaposes the aesthetics of algorithmic computer music, with the rich modality of Persian Classical music. Written almost entirely in SuperCollider, the works in this collection feature both fully-improvised and semi-improvised compositions.

Zabte Sote is a wellspring of inspiration, not because of some fetishization of Iran or least of all its pain, but as a reservoir of adventurous curation and expressive sound design. It's a label that consistently has something to say. This year Ate 'Sote' Ebtekar has already put out three more gems...

Debut album by Hamid Rahmati titled 'Rhizosphere' available to pre-order on ZS BandCamp page:
https://zabtesote.bandcamp.com/album/rhizosphere
Rhizosphere is about roots, areas which originate all of our inspirations, not only from an artistic point of view but also from an exhaustive aspect that embrace our whole being and becoming.
The main characteristic of root is its ever-changing and ever-growing property that makes its influences unique and transformative. In an extensive sense, this quality affects artistic creativity and produces an ever-transforming synthesis which in combination of diverse and sometimes opposite elements can relatively create unique forms. For instance, accurate and deliberated approach to music composition, and far from it, unpredictable nature of some electronic music techniques generates a new quality which can induce motivations spontaneously.
