WNC was hit especially hard by Hurricane Helene.

We know God is faithful and He is working through each person and in their situation, but we also know we cannot forget our small towns and we must share their stories.

Yesterday, we prayed with folks in Burnsville, Spruce Pine and Swannanoa. Despite the utter devastation, these folks are so kind and so strong, their faith in Jesus remaining their rock.

Please pray for these communities, their people, the businesses and give as you’re able.

💧💧💧Water Update 10/15 💧💧💧
Water is slowly being restored in parts of Buncombe County as crews work around the clock to return water to Asheville and surrounding communities.

Officials started to release water into a repaired bypass line from the North Fork Reservoir over the weekend.

Mayor Esther Manheimer said that as of Monday, Oct. 14, water has reached parts of downtown but not throughout the entire area.

The City of Asheville says heavy dirt and sediment have entered the water system due to broken distribution lines.

Officials ask all residents to flush their lines for about 15 minutes when their water comes back on. Those who currently have running water are reminded to only use it for flushing toilets, as it is not yet safe to drink.

The City of Hendersonville has announced that as of Saturday, Oct. 12, all of the city's water system has been sampled and it is confirmed to be safe to drink after Hurricane Helene damaged the system's operations, the city said in a release.

Some areas may have less-than-normal water pressure, however, the City of Hendersonville is aware of this problem and is working to restore it back to normal.

For the rest of the WNC Customers without water….
The water restoration is contingent on two important things happening:
1) completion of North Fork’s 36-inch bypass line rebuild which has been connected.
2) the ability to put water into the system. Pushing the sediment-filled water through our filters would damage them beyond repair, and set back the process.
The City is working with the EPA on turbidity-reducing measures. Once water is able to leave the North Fork, city crews will have to fill tanks, repair pipe leaks, and remove air locks from the distribution system. Mills River treatment plant, which serves South Asheville, is operating at normal output. While most of the service area has been pressurized, there are still pockets that have not received water service. Water Resources maintenance staff is working to bring water to the entire service area as quickly as possible. A boil water advisory remains in effect for those whose water has returned. We are also asking customers with water service to conserve it as much as possible. Water restoration will occur slowly and incrementally. As we have said from the beginning, full operation of the system could potentially be weeks away.
