A snorkeler in Australia hardly believed her eyes when she spotted a sand mullet fish with a wedding band wrapped around its neck.
Norfolk Island local Susan Prior was swimming off the east coast of Australia when she beheld the strange site. Believing the ring might be of value, Prior put it up on the local Classifieds page in the hope she would find the owner, Newsweek reported.

WE HAD a close encounter in our house a couple months back. It was unplanned, unexpected and poetic in nature. With that casual, don’t-carish air teenagers practice so well, my daughter picked up the review copy of Kamau Brathwaite’s Liviticus, published by House of Nehesi, that has occupied spa...

Old-growth forests are basically rockstars.

They store tons of carbon, reduce wildfire risks, and increase biodiversity.

Last year, President Biden signed an executive order directing agencies to conserve and restore old and mature forests.

Now, the USDA is acting on that order with a plan to amend all 128 forest land management plans to make sure these ancient trees are protected.

The plan would include a ban on cutting down old-growth trees for economic reasons. It also calls for place-based strategies for forest conservation, and working together with Tribal communities and local stakeholders.

There are over 50,000 square miles of old-growth forests on federal land, according to a first-of-its-kind survey earlier this year.

Our condolences to his wife, family, and friends. We will have a full obituary in the days to come.

Lord Nelson.
Plainly, Nelson was guilty of allowing his friendships with white planters and his obsession with defeating France to blind him to the suffering of enslaved people, a grievous failing. Although his views were not motivated by personal gain, outright racial hatred, or an attachment to slavery as an institution, they were still reactionary even by the standards of his time. They can be contextualised and explained, but never justified.
