Our monthly party at Bossa continues 🐸🫶 This month’s edition finds us in hopeless devotion to regional club music with NYC appearances from two DJs we adore — Louisville, Kentucky’s sddp and Virginia’s finest DJ Fairway (1/2 of HIMOTHY, alumni of Juke Bounce Werk and EAT DIS). Sorry’s own Nick Boyd on opening duties too.

We’re throwing our first Sorry Records party outside of New York on May 10th! At The Listening Club in Chicago! With one of our favorite Chicago DJs Mark Grusane holding things down alongside ourselves (Tony G and Nick Boyd)!

Introducing Unlawful Assembly — the new album from the one and only C Powers.

A sincerely special release for more than a few reasons, Unlawful Assembly is the first proper album we’ve released on Sorry Records in half a decade and our fifth (!!) project by Cecilia / C Powers, released under a slew of disparate monikers and via different collaborations since 2019.

Many thanks to for his thoughtful words of support in DJ Mag today. Album is out in 2 weeks on 3/19 but DJ Mag has premiered the first single and there’s a really wild second single called “Munitions” up on Bandcamp and all the stream places.

Multiple years in the making and featuring artwork by the great Allison Hoffman, we are so happy to present sddp’s 100% Brandy: An Exploration of Bootleg & Edit Culture!

A bit from …

Bootleg, edit, remix, re-edit, re-fix, all are essential tools in any DJ’s toolkit. There’s one singer in particular you’re more likely to see on those white label 12” records or haphazardly named .mp3 files though, Brandy Norwood. So much so that it’s basically turned into a running joke, with ScratchaDVA proposing the truly terrifying idea of her waking up one day and coming for the royalties she’d be owed from so many UK producers. It’s not just the United Kingdom though, a combination of her once in a lifetime vocal prowess, as well as a major record company that was very liberally pressing up acapella mixes for DJs in the mid to late 1990s, leads to her being sampled by producers all around the world.

This mix highlights three decades worth of unofficial remixes from the singer, spanning a myriad of styles and sounds, collected over the course of about 4 years. I ended up sifting through a good 300 or so tracks, as well as created some of my own edits in the process. Needless to say, the task of trying to highlight as many scenes and sounds as possible was incredibly daunting. In the end, at least one song from her 7 main solo albums, as well as bits from Moesha & other TV/Film appearances were sampled in my 93 minute long tribute to the vocal bible.

In total solidarity with the people of Palestine, Sorry Records would like to commit to adhering to the Palestinian international call for Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) and to comply with the underlying guidelines of the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel (PACBI).

As a record label and as individuals, Sorry Records therefore commits to:

•⁠ ⁠Refrain from participation in any form of academic and cultural cooperation, collaboration, or joint projects with Israeli institutions;

•⁠ ⁠Advocate a comprehensive boycott of Israeli institutions at the national and international levels, including suspension of all forms of funding and subsidies to these institutions;

•⁠ ⁠Promote divestment and disinvestment from the state of Israel by international academic institutions;

•⁠ ⁠Work toward the condemnation of Israeli policies by pressing for resolutions to be adopted by academic, professional and cultural associations and organizations.

•⁠ ⁠Support Palestinian academic and cultural institutions directly without requiring them to partner with Israeli counterparts as an explicit or implicit condition for such support.

The BDS movement, including PACBI, rejects on principle boycotts of individuals based on their identity (such as citizenship, race, gender, sexuality, or religion) or opinion. Mere affiliation of Israeli cultural workers to an Israeli cultural institution is therefore not grounds for applying the boycott. If, however, an individual is representing the state of Israel or a complicit Israeli institution, or is commissioned/recruited to participate in Israel’s efforts to “rebrand” itself, then their activities are subject to the institutional boycott the BDS movement is calling for.

PREMIERE: Seimei / Trekkie Trax - Lurking Intention (Sorry Records)

Tokyo-based producer/dj SEIMEI makes his Sorry Records debut with four slamming tracks touching on techno, breaks, robot vocal electro, and party rocking house. Only the second Sorry Records release from a non-US based artist in our nearly ten years of existence, Seimei's Tokyo Funky Breaks EP features a slammin remix from Seimei's brother and fellow young Japanese legend Carpainter in addition to a bonkers Florida Breaks remix from our friend and Baltimore-born, Brooklyn-based club music star JIALING (a.k.a. BIG J).

Co-founder of seminal Japanese dance music collective/label TREKKIE TRAX, Seimei has been a tireless force in the Japanese dance underground for over a decade now. TREKKIE TRAX's catalog is absolutely massive -- 190 releases and counting, over 800 tracks of all shapes and sizes released with DIY care and love over the last 10 years. Seimei's productions have been released on superb labels like Moveltraxx, WET TRAX, Midnight Cult, Top Billin Music, Akihabara Heavy Industry Inc. He's remixed Japanese techno legend Ken Ishii, done guest mixes for both Hessle Audio, LUCKYME® on Rinse FM, and Mix Up Exclusives on triple J presented by Nina Las Vegas.

Seimei also runs a monthly radio program ‘TREKKIE TRAX RADIO’ on the Japanese biggest dance music radio station ‘Block.fm’ and has a residency on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM.

That’s right — we did house, we did bass, we did techno — and now we’re going south for a bass boosted high BPM breaks night full of Floridian deck technicians we love.⁣

Miami based legend SEL.6 (.6 ) returns to Bossa for the first time since her all night b2b with Jubilee for her FLIGHT 808 party back in December. A wickedly talented DJ and producer that we’ve been fortunate enough to know for some years now, SEL.6 has a number of incredible self releases in addition to releases on Space Tapes and Allergy Season and remixes/collaborations with INVT, Nick León, Physical Therapy, and opalº. Well known in Miami for her DJ skills, SEL.6 has done mixes for Fade to Mind’s Rinse FM show and Keep Hush as well as shared bills with DJs like Anz, DJ Python, Sister Zo, Danny Daze, AceMo, MoMa Ready, DJ Swisha, Kush Jones, Jonny From Space, Skream, Regal86, DJ Voices, Coffintexts, Ariel Zetina, Yumi, Mystic Bill, Ben UFO, Pearson Sound, LOKA, Jensen Interceptor, Bitter Babe, and more.⁣

Opening things up for the night, DJ Lexi ( ) will be making her NYC DJ DEBUT. A familiar face in the crowd at all the best parties in the NYC area, Polk County native and former Erowid power user DJ Lexi is sure to bring the house down for us.⁣

Long time Sorry Records Soundsystem members Figur ( ) and Nick Boyd ( ) will be bringing us home with a breakneck b2b that’s sure to do Figur’s hometown of Tampa proud. You may know Figur from his multiple releases in the Sorry Records catalog, most notably 2022’s Respawn in 36... with Loraine James, They Hate Change & NIGELTHREETIMES remixes. Or his killer appearances on the Sorry Records show on The Lot Radio — appearing alongside fellow breakbeat stars Tim Reaper and Drummy. Nick Boyd is the founder of Sorry Records and still beating the house head allegations.⁣
