What’s on my mind you ask Facebook? SAVING MY DEGREE PROGRAM 📜🧑‍🎓😭

Hey folks, wondering if I can rally a bit of support - my degree program International Development BSc is being moved into temporary cessation on the path to being permanently ceased 😭

I would still get my degree but it will be devalued and I’m a first year just starting my degree so this is devastating news, which affects all current and past Int Dev students.

The decision was made by CUBS at UCC without consulting staff or students so lecturers are also affected by this decision.

Myself and other Int Dev students, alumni and friends have started a movement to try and save the course as it is the only undergraduate of its kind in Ireland. It’s also a course which covers topics like SDGs, health, education, human rights, the environment, etc. which are all things that UCC claims to value yet is letting go of a program directly aimed at these issues.

Our petition which was started on Friday is less than 200 signatures away from 2k and tomorrow UpLift are planning to launch a nationwide press release to support our petition (which I will be the face of). We need to make as much noise as possible ahead of a CUBS Curriculum Committee and ADSC for Temporary Cessation meeting on Tuesday.

Will you sign and share the petition please? 🙏

Thank you for your time 🙏

Much love,
Peace,
Freddie 🌍✌️

I just signed the petition to stop CUBS at the University College of Cork from removing and ending International Development BSc. Can you do the same?

Our Story

There should be two main sides to The Positive Spin. The first is lifestyle... Here you will not find any fad diets or extreme workouts, but you will find nutritional information, recipes, 30 day fitness challenges, and above all else positive mental health practices. Our aim is to help people transition themselves into a healthier being, to take control of your own body and mind so you can be happier, healthier and achieve your inner peace. The second is news... Learn about global current events in a whole new way. We want you to be able to feel connected to the world around you as globalisation spreads, not live in fear of the future. We understand that not everyone is a natural born activist, not everyone has the time to be involved on a larger scale and not everyone has the money to donate. Although we understand the varying levels of interest and commitment people can have for our world we still believe that in order to change things forever we all need to play some sort of part. That's why at the end of every article The Positive Spin aims to give you three different ways to get involved, at varying degrees of effort, usually from the comfort of your own home. We want to give people an optimists outlook. We cannot begin to help others if we cannot help ourselves first and that is why The Positive Spin combines a healthy lifestyle, positive news and a diverse set of ways to get involved.
