There are four things that disgust us:
1. The calls for Austerity by Conservatives was a political agenda veiled in the excuse of balancing the books. And the reason we had to balance the books, wasn't as Tories and Republicans want us to believe, due to the over spending of left wing Governments, it's because of the capitalist greed of successive governments and the deregulation of banking that caused the global financial crash, which we all had to pay for. So the 1% got rich by lying and cheating the rest of us, the global economy crashed, our tax money bailed them out and then the audacity has been to cane us again to refill and rebalance the books. All while the 1% were investing the money they fleeced us of to get even richer. And the scary thing is they've got away with it!
2. The Conservative political ideology which is bred into them from birth, that they are the providing class and the rest are the class that facilitates and maintains their dominant position. That hard work pays off and damn you if you're poor. Even though a vast number of hardworking people in Britain and around the world are poor, get no bonuses and have very little chance of social mobility. And lest not forget, most Conservatives running the countries they run have had the fortune of the best education money can buy and all the benefits that come from being born in a world of privilege. This is Conservatism. Any other agenda is nothing but pretence, but yet again they keep getting away with it.
3. Those not born wealthy or with the obvious privilege we sight above, that buy into this mantra. Because they worked hard and it worked for them. Because they had the fortune of a booming growth in the 50's and 60's so they can't understand why it's not the same for everyone else. Because they need someone to blame or judge rather than have compassion to help and support. Because they think they're better or more deserving than all those beneath them or less fortunate then them, because they tried harder. And they keep telling themselves that at the expense of the widening gap between the haves and have nots, that effects the majority, just not them.
