Our mission here at Arroyo Records is to provide practical, hands-on, realistic small business experiences in the operation of an independent, student-run record label. We will accomplish this through a collaborative effort of students from various disciplines of contemporary music, creative writing and literature, graphic design and digital arts, film, performing arts, photography, and studio art
s at Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD). These results will be seen and heard in products composed and recorded by students, alumni, and faculty in the form of CDs and new media. Our ex*****on of pre-production, production, and post-production tasks will include (but not be limited to):
-development of management and supervisory skills
-working within an operation budget
-finding, evaluating, and developing new label talent
-implementation of business and legal structures providing students with retention of exclusive copyright privileges to their content
-recording engineering
-designing promotional posters, cover art, business cards, packaging, and websites
-marketing, distribution, and overseeing sales of products
-promoting visibility through press releases, reviews, radio interviews, film, photography, videos, and social media
Benefits to our students are numerous, including resume building, having possession of recorded material, and training for entering the job market.
