Penguin And Riddler Team Up With Jim Gordon In A New Gotham Teaser
Being cut off from everything in the middle of a criminal warzone is going to make for strange partnerships, I guess. It looks like we’ll be seeing Penguin and Riddler team up with Gordon and Harvey in the effort to take back Gotham. Fox recently dropped another short preview for the upcoming fifth and final season for the show. Along with this team up, we’ll also see the coming of Bane, the final steps for Bruce Wayne to becoming Batman, and a few more surprises. ‘Gotham’ premieres Thursday, January 3rd.

Doctor Who Review: It Takes You Away
On the one hand, it would be easy to dismiss ‘It Takes You Away’ as a late-season filler episode. One that didn’t take up too much of the budget and gives us something to watch while the writers focus on the big bang for the last episode this year. On the other hand though, as with many episodes this season, there is a lot packed in here that raises the episode out of its surface appearances. There are definitely things to be overlooked here, but the end result is a nice character study.
The Solitract, a sentient universe banned from our own creates a world to lure widower Erik to stay with it forever. Since the Doctor and friends have arrived on the scene, the Soltitract decides to try and nab one more and presents the departed Grace to Graham. Of course, the only downside to all of this is that if Erik and Graham decide to stay, both universes will be destroyed. It’s this conundrum that is where the episode is the most effective. How much would you be willing to give up to be with a lost loved one again? When do you have to realize that it is time to move on and move forward?
Erik doesn’t quite play as sympathetically in this episode. Unwilling to move on, he abandons his daughter in our universe and convinces her not to leave the house by tricking her into believing there are monsters outside their doors. Let’s just say he won’t be getting any parenting awards on the resumption of his normal life. It’s Graham’s encounter with the Solitract, in the form of Grace, that really brings the episode up a notch or two.
The only thing that doesn’t play quite right in the examination of the grief Graham has been dealing with is the rather quick solution to the ongoing situation between Graham and Ryan. Ryan all season has been distant to Graham and refused to accept him as his adoptive grandfather. To have Ryan suddenly change his mind because he’d been caring for Erik’s abandoned daughter doesn’t quite add up, if only because we weren’t really shown a mome
Disney Announces New Star Wars Kids Website And YouTube Channel
Disney has announced it is launching starwarskids.com and a new YouTube channel that will feature content from the site. Beginning November 30th, kids (and probably a lot of adults) can catch “Galaxy of Adventure”, 6 new short animated versions of classic ‘Star Wars’ moments. James Waugh, Lucasfilm’s vice president for franchise content and strategy, had this to say about the new series:
“With Galaxy of Adventures, we wanted to craft something that allowed parents to help their kids take their first step into a much larger world whether they were ready to show their kids the films or wanted to find new ways to explore the content.”

The Tsuranga Conundrum Underscores The Themes Of Doctor Who This Year
Spoiler alert - This is exactly the kind of episode that can get the fans riled up into a screaming mass of people running around saying the show is done for. It has corridors! It has a cutesy villain! It has more gender-swapping in the most gender-swapped season of all! It’s a miracle there wasn’t an increase in reports of aneurysms on Sunday night. Thankfully, while the episode might not be one of the series high points, there is no reason for anyone to die over it (I'm looking at you Radio Times).
Where to start with the messages this episode tries to convey? Some of them are subtly delivered, some will see you end up a patient on the hospital ship in the episode from the hammering over the head. Maybe it’s the current political environment in the US (yes, that is where this reviewer is from), but I’ll take messages of hope and not underestimating people right now. Perhaps we could all use a little cute feel-good romp now and then.
No, I didn’t miss that the ‘big-bad’ of the episode, the ‘Pting’, is more than a little on the cute side (Think and Adipose mixed with Stitch from Disney’s ‘Lilo and Stitch’) but I can’t help but think that was intentional. There is the obvious marketing ploy - cute toy possibilities to aim at the younger crowd always please corporations looking to make more money from a property. I think though there is the subtler message of not underestimating people and things, something that we could all use a reminder of every now and again.
All in all, I didn’t hate this episode. Strong praise, I know, but considering some of the vitriol it seems to be working up on the web it’s a strong statement. ‘Doctor Who’ can’t be all series long arcs and characters hidden in the background but of earth-shattering importance when revealed. Sometimes you just need to run down a corridor or two and remember that it’s ok to think about a positive future.

First Star Trek Discovery Season 2 Trailer
The first trailer for season 2 of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ has arrived. The new season will find the Discovery, and the Enterprise, investigating the feline worlds worst enemy - 7 red dots. The dots are connected to Spock somehow and word from Comic-Con is that we will be seeing him in the upcoming season (Note: There was no clarification that we’d see the adult or child Spock. It was confirmed earlier this year that we’d see a child version of the character). ‘Discovery’ is not expected to premiere until 2019, but there will be 4 mini-episodes that will begin releasing in the fall.
