Coeur d‘Alene Charter Academy will present its season finale concert “From Bach to ROCK!” Tuesday, May 24, at North Idaho College’s Schuler Performing Arts Center.

The concert will begin at 6 p.m.

Charter Academy band and orchestra students will perform under the direction of the school’s instrumental music director Michael Harrison.

The spring concert has been held at Coeur d’Alene’s Kroc Center for the last three years, but the audience has outgrown that venue.

All the school’s orchestra and band students will take the stage, including the Jazz Band, Chamber Orchestra and Wind Ensemble. The program will be a wide ranging mix of classical, pop, jazz and rock-inspired music. Rumor has it that real dinosaurs may even make an appearance.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

Back by popular demand! Board games, card games, dice games, and more. Did you know? Human beings are born to play! If you love to play games, have ideas about great games, want to try out some new games, or make your own games, this camp is for you. Come discover your gaming superpowers at Gizmo!

Please Note: Summer camp at the makerspace is a unique opportunity we wish to make available to as many youth in the community as possible. To help us achieve this goal, each child may only be registered for ONE week of camp at Gizmo. We may open camps to second-time registration at a later date if spots do not fill.

Cost: $225.00, includes all materials. Scholarships are available for families with financial need. Read more about scholarships below.

Scholarship Information: Gizmo reserves half of all camp spots for scholarship recipients. Scholarships are based on financial need and awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Gizmo uses a sliding scale system for scholarships: you decide what your family can reasonably contribute toward your child's camp experience, and Gizmo covers the difference. Families may apply for one scholarship per child, per summer, for the camp(s) of their choosing. To apply for a scholarship, please complete the Summer 2022 Scholarship Application form, which is accessible by clicking here. Upon approval of your application, you will be provided with a unique registration code and a credit to apply toward your child's registration. Please do not attempt to register prior to receiving a confirmation from Gizmo.

Cancellation Policy: If your child is no longer able to attend camp, you may cancel your registration up to 10 days prior to the start of camp for a 90% refund. (Gizmo retains 10% to cover our administrative/transaction costs.) Refunds will generally not be issued for cancellations within 10 days of camp, nor missed camp days.

Camp Policies and Procedures: Prior to completing camp registration, families should be familiar with our 2022 Camp Policies and Camper Code of Conduct.

The Route of the Hiawatha was named a “Hall of Fame” trail by the Rail-to-Trail Conservancy, one of only 15 trails designated as such in the country.

It was called one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the country. When the Milwaukee Railroad was operating, the trains traversed through 11 tunnels and over 9 high trestles, covering a 46 mile route that crossed the rugged Bitterroot Mountains between Idaho and Montana.

The “Route of the Hiawatha” is most famous for the long St. Paul Pass, or Taft Tunnel which burrows for 8,771 ft. (1.66 miles) under the Bitterroot Mountains at the state line.
