Had to grab a half dozen ginormous everything bagels and 2 bialsys before I left NYC.
They barely fit in my luggage. And all my clothes smelled like garlic.

Sang Bleu. Never had haksap berries before, but hits like a blend of cherries, blueberries, and the tannic character of raspberries. Super jammy berry forward with dusty funk onto punchy red wine acidity, blueberry yogurt, hint of acetic sour.

Pleasant treat to run into left over from Zwanze.

Never would expect to hit this market. Basically couldn't be further in the continental US. Been almost a decade since I've had this. Lightly biscuit malt, restrained medium bitterness highlighting zesty grapefruit rind, clementines, light pineapple.

Black Chocolate Stout (2004).
What a confusing beer to see the shelf. Easily the oldest beer I've ever had.
All staff could tell me is they got it from distributor 2 years ago and held it.
$3.50 a bottle!
Whisper of carb, basically flat. Roast has hugely flattened, no hop character. Tastes basically like a flat Imperial Schwarzbier.

Brouwer's XVIII. 100+/100.
What an insane beer. Nose hits of crunchy white/lightly reddish cherries, Belgian funk, wet stone minerality, baby diaper, toasted sesame.
Complexity on the palate is only more refined, complex, and intense. Pushing towards jammy, but rich, bold cherry with toasted almonds, cinnamon, bright lactic Greek yogurt acidity, lightly acetic. Vibrant acidity, silky mouthfeel, long long long flavors throughout the entire palate.
What a pleasure to enjoy this. Thank you so much Nick.

Went to for my first ever. It's crazy to have never enjoyed this event before, though I did wait on line at Spuyten once and they ran out of everything before me.
Also comes with the territory in working the industry and never having Fri-Sun off.
Amazing experience. Definitely will need to visit Redlight more often.
Pictured are Magic Lambic and Vignerone. Also had Classic Gueze and St. Lam. Didn't get a ticket for the Zwanze, but the beer was incredible. However, catching up with friends was even better.

Possibly the GoaT for me on this style. The fruit salad and mineral stone Brett driven nose goes directly onto the palate with pink grapefruit, kumquats, star fruit, kefir lime, pluots along with a mango lassi and Turkish ayran creamy/salinity. I think of Tom Yum soup too. With that intense fruitiness and creaminess follows into intense dryness of tannins, medium minus hop bitterness, and more wet stone mineral drying. Brett funk is not to be dismissed with barnyard and tropical baby vomit. Mouthfeel is rounded and full upfront despite being very spritzy on carb and bone dry on finish.
Beer does not stop.

The Cranfather. (11.1%). 85/100
This is the weirdest beer I've had in a long time and I spent 15 minutes on my review.
It immediately tastes like an infected Bourbon County Barleywine. Sour, citrus, fruity, rich malt, bourbon barrel.
Then it just jams so hard on sour orange, with the cranberry rocketing the acidity of the overpowering orange oily peels. Masked are the deep malts, sweetness, and cherries. The ex*****on on a cranberry Old Fashioned cocktail is completely lost by someone muddling a quarter orange into your drink.
The beer makes no sense, but it was quite drinkable. I just don't see how such a beer passed quality without anyone saying, "Woah, that's very sour and orange forward." Nuance is a goal with this beer and not found.

YouTube viewers told me to do a blind of Oktoberfest beers.
Blindfolded, I somehow picked out all 3!
On first run, I thought it was going to be impossible.
I then noticed 1 just lacked length of malt flavor and was the most watery. Felt that was a giveaway for a mass production American brew.
2 had the deepest malt and hop character, albeit not exaggerated like American craft breweries do, so went with .
3 honestly tastes like Festbier in this lineup with just a lengthy pale malt flavor that threw me to Germany, thus the call.

Super flattered and impressed with myself for getting all 3 correct. Try it yourself, see how hard it is. Let me know.

97/100.
This beer is a world class classic.
Rich complexity of chocolate cake, coffee grounds, dried dates, raisin, light ashiness. Bold medium plus body with lingering light caramel sweetness.
Don't sleep on it.

Crazy enough, don't think I've ever had this beer. Glad it's priced well in 4 packs, but still prefer the OG. The base beer doesn't stand up very well to barrel treatment, but a lovely beer still.

Thoughts?

The taplist is insanely diverse, wonderful taproom, and had an amazing time chatting with Brett.

Watching videos of this Florence based sandwich spot made me jealous of those actually able to fly to Italy. As a sandwich enthusiast, I had to give a try when I found out they opened in NYC.
La Favolosa is quite rich, with fatty salty salami and their buttery cheese spread. Wish the sandwich a bit more to cut through it all, but I do look forward to trying more off the menu in the future.

Flipside Amber Ale. 98/100. Holy smokes this beer is back and is it fire and the cheapest beer .
Straight mango juice covered in pine sap and sweet juicy crystal malts. Restrained bitterness for SN contrasted by compote peaches and dried apricots. Can't wait to find some to review for you guys.

Oklahoma Burger. It doesn't get more simple or tastier. Burned my mouth on those steaming hot onions, but I loved it.

Not included are also two lager ticks I wanted to hit in and (their Unfiltered Pils was a highlight).

Am I crazy or is this the worst fresh vintage of BCBS I've ever had?
Dare I say, it comes of even a bit sour and overly dry on the finish? Lacks it's usually dessert chocolate cake complexity, ashy and burnt flavors linger cutting away from the beers usual sticky sweet caramel and bourbon.
