Getting set to launch a book?

Whether you're a solo author or a co-author in a multi-author book, these tips are for you!

1 - Use high-quality graphics that are relevant to your book's genre, theme, and unique vibe.

This will make your book cover and promotional materials stand out, be memorable, and look polished, professional, and consistent.

2 - Ensure your graphics are consistent across all marketing channels, including your website, social media, and email campaigns. This will help to build your brand and create a cohesive message.

To build awareness, recognition, trust, authority, and excitement with your audience, they need to see your book content consistently and understand how you and your book can help them.

3 - Build anticipation! Create buzz around your book by sharing teasers, quotes, and behind-the-scenes glimpses on social media and your website before, during, and after launch.

Use branded graphics and short-form video strategically to capture your audience's attention and communicate key messages, or showcase your book's benefits.

4 - Leverage your network. Reach out to friends, family, and colleagues to spread the word about your book launch.

Create a giveaway offer for your audience if they share and tag you in specific content on launch day, or if they share a book review.

5 [TOP TIP] - Make a plan and don't leave it to the last minute!

Get systems in place to make staying on track throughout the publishing and launching process super simple, and that includes planning your marketing content. You need tools that minimise the stress and admin tasks, without adding to the overwhelm.

BONUS TIP - Ensure you're sharing a mix of personal content, content that positions you as an authority in relation to what you're sharing in the book, value content, and book promotion.

Don't bombard your audience with nothing but book graphics. They need to know why they should buy it, what benefits they'll get from it, and you can show them through your value and education content.

Your story is your gift to the world!

Having the privilege of working closely with publishers and authors to share their books with the world, and being an author myself, I've seen just how true this quote is!

Our stories have so much power!

Power to heal.
Power to move.
Power to support.
Power to grow.
Power to shift.
Power to give permission.
Power to change.
Power to show a different way.
Power to connect.
Power to empower.
So, so, so much power!

So many people don't think they have a story worth telling.
They don't think they can write.
They don't know what to say.

But... what I've learned from my experience in the world of multi-author books is that... what is most personal, is most relevant.

Our unique experiences, our most vulnerable moments, are what resonate most with others. That's what has the power to create huge impact!

Don't write yourself off as a writer just yet, you never know what story might be blossoming inside you, nor what the impact could be on the lives of those who read it!

What exactly is book branding?

What's the difference between branding your book and simply marketing it?

Let's break this down...

Marketing a book means you're out there promoting, sharing, bringing awareness to it and actively working to 'sell' it.

That's an essential part in birthing a book.

Writing a book isn't just about writing a book, it's also about selling it, so you can share your story, your voice, your message, with the world.

Because, your story is a gift to those who need it!

If you don't 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙡 your book... no one will read it!

It's not called a best-SELLING book for nothing! Marketing is a key component in reaching as many people as possible.

But book 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨... that's a whole other level! This is the bit that gets me super excited!

You can market without branding, but branding your book prior to marketing creates a much greater impact on your audience.

It's all about consistency and cohesion. The more consistent your book branding and marketing, the more your potential readers see and connect with you and your writing, and the more they are primed to buy your book. They get to know you, understand what your book is about, how you can help them, how your story speaks to them. Your message resonates with the right people.

A consistent brand for your book means you're marketing with intention. You have a strategy. Your visuals are cohesive. Your audience understands the journey and comes to trust that your book will serve them. That's why branding your book is an essential component to your book marketing strategy.

Lots of 'gurus' say "Know, Like, Trust" is dead. I don't think that's true!

Most people still prefer to purchase something they feel they know, from someone they know. Someone they feel they can trust, a person or product that's been recommended to them, or that they've connected with on a level that allows them to feel understood, safe and supported.

It's no different when it comes to buying a book, especially ones within the spiritual, business, personal development areas!

Your book needs to stand out, be memorable, and speak to your potential readers!

Book branding allows it to do just that.

It's time to step back out from behind the scenes!

These days, a lot of my work is supporting others to market themselves and their books, set up systems, and automate their businesses to allow them to grow.

But, it's time now to step out from behind the scenes and start getting visible again, because 2023 is all about building the momentum, sharing some exciting things, and doing exactly what I set out to do when I took my first steps down this entrepreneurial path almost 3 years ago.

It took most of 2022 to work through some significant challenges, and there’s still work to do, but I truly believe it was a process I needed to go through in order to step into this next stage, to be able to appreciate and receive the abundance, generosity, and opportunities that are already beginning to flow in.

Once I accepted where I was, what I needed, allowed myself the grace to rest and recalibrate...

Once I declared myself open, ready to receive, ready to embrace what was coming next after the lessons of last year...

Oh boy, did the blessings start flowing in! It's actually incredible how quickly things have started to shift!

If this is a taste of what's coming this year, I'm so here for it!

So, here I am! Back from behind the curtain and ready for an amazing year!

Hands up if you’re homeschooling 🙌🙋‍♀️🙌

I’m curious to see how many and the variety of approaches!

Even just in our little homeschooling group there is such a beautiful mix of ways we’re supporting our kids to learn.

And hands up if you're also a boss mumma juggling a business alongside home school life? It's not easy, right!?

As I'm getting myself set up for a new year, I'm reflecting on everything I've learned from our first year of home schooling, what I want to create in my business moving forward, and how I want our family and life to BE this year.

My word for 2023 is 'balance.' It keeps coming up for me and after last year, where it felt as though everything was out of balance, I'm feeling called to really stand in my boundaries, take responsibility, dig deep into the essence of what I want for myself and my kiddos, and use that as my guiding light this year.

It's off to a great start and I can already feel the huge shift in energy from the funk of last year to the possibility of this new one.

📌 I NEED YOUR HELP!

I’ve been working on a project & need your feedback!

If you know me, you know I like to be organised. I’m one of those people whose mental clutter is a direct reflection of her physical environment, & vice versa &, while I don’t like to live by a tight schedule, I do better with a familiar rhythm.

Last year, our home schooling was very unstructured. I loved being able to let go of expectation, de-school (still ongoing!), explore different ways of learning, & just generally get a feel for what would work well for our family.

But this year, I’m excited to introduce a little more ‘intention’ & routine to our days, while still allowing plenty of space to go with the flow. Implementing some structure to our days will help set better boundaries with the kids, and that includes making time for me to work.

When I sat down to start planning Term 1, I felt I needed a different approach. Like so many people, I’ve tried a plethora of diaries, calendars, apps, & planners, but I always struggled with being locked into a certain design or layout. I love digital organisation because it’s flexible, but I also love physically writing & using beautiful stationery.

You may have seen (& even tried) the PDF planners that are all the rage right now. I dismissed them at first, but when I started exploring my options, I realised they were right up my alley! But I couldn’t find one that was right for me - a home-schooling mumma, building a biz, into the woo-woo, & who wants flexibility in the way she plans. Plus it needs to be pretty!

So what’s a busy, Canva-obsessed mumma to do?

DESIGN MY OWN!!!

💧 Ace of Water 💧

My card for 2023.

I recently had some space for my new year rituals. Belated, yes, but it turned out to be at the perfect time for me.

I saged the house, reset my crystal grid and intentions for this year, cleaned my office, sorted my systems, and pulled this card.

Soooooo much resonated for me as soon as I saw it!

The word ‘balance’ has been vibrating through the start of this new year and this card feels in alignment with that. Balance and flow. That was the intention I set as we left 2022 behind, so I love feeling that come through in this card.

It also feels fitting that this card relates to memory. As I begin to find my way back to myself, shrugging off the funk and heaviness of 2022, I'm remembering my purpose, what lights me up, my WHY, my power and positivity, and these memories drive me forward.

You can't fail if you don't give up.

I never gave up. I just needed a moment. And now I'm back!!!

This card speaks of being present, really feeling my emotions, and tapping into ancient instincts and intuition. Yes, yes, yes!!! 2022 wasn't pleasant, but it sure as hell taught me a lot about balance and being present! This will be a huge priority moving forward!

And water!

How appropriate!

While I have lots of exciting things in the works for my book business (including writing a chapter in another multi-author book - eek!), my Enagic business is still close to my heart and very much alive. I'm looking forward to giving it the attention it deserves this year as well, and learning how to intertwine all that the different facets of my businesses offer.

I've enjoyed my slow, intentional start to the year. I'm putting systems in place to support me to maintain better balance, I'm exploring new opportunities, and I'm easing back into being more present in my business.

It all feels good and I can't wait to share more of this year's journey with you!

I have a confession.

It's hard to admit.

I haven't been walking the talk.

I've been making excuses.

I've been putting the needs & progress of others before my own.

I've been feeling lost & overwhelmed with my direction & message.

I know what I have is valuable & can impact so many, but I've felt weighed down with what's happening in the world, the heaviness of so much negativity & feeling like I'm constantly pushing, justifying, standing my ground. It's exhausting.

But this week I opened up & got honest with myself, took ownership of what I have & haven't been doing.

Why am I telling you this?

Because the people I serve most are fellow mums, people most in need of seeing that other mums don't have it all together, aren't constantly kicking goals. We mess up, have times of self-doubt & overwhelm too, but... we also pick ourselves up, shrug off the excuses, stand in our power to claim OUR needs & desires, trust ourselves & we don't give up!

Starting my business 19 months ago began purely as a way to make an income from home so I could be present with my kids & get out of a job that no longer feels aligned, but it soon evolved into something so much more!

Personal brands, women in business, mumpreneurs, we are seen & we have influence. We have the power to impact someone's life for the better. I will always be a teacher at heart & that desire to guide & support runs deep, so I'm tapping into that to bring me back into alignment.

My path isn't about deciding which offer to focus on, making 10k in a day, or how to get 10k followers in 1 week. It's about how I can serve my audience. How I can help the women who are where I was 2 years ago, who feel stuck. There are so many mums in extreme distress about how best to protect their children & still earn a living. I can help with that! I have so many ways I can serve these fierce mummas & allow them to embrace their desires & genius.

So I'm shaking off the s**t, resetting my boundaries, investing in myself & getting back to work showing up for me, my kids, & all the mummas.

Who am I to say & do this?

I'm a woman, a mum, a powerful, sovereign being with so much value to share... who am I not to!

Yes!! 🙌 Such a well written post!

I have sent a number of emails to leadership and admin in my school asking for Zooper Doopers to be removed, and no one has bothered to even reply. In my school, they are used as a behaviour reward 😱🤦‍♀️😱

Setting aside the issue of ‘good behaviour’ rewards (that’s for another time), giving these out is completely contradicting what we’re trying to achieve.

If you know where I teach then you know we have enough issues with behaviour, concentration, nutrition, and apathy towards learning, without adding more fuel to the fire by deliberately handing these out!

I honestly can’t fathom why schools still serve them if they truly have the best interests of the kids at heart.

Kinda makes you think about other current issues… doesn’t it!

What are you creating?

Are you intentionally making decisions to improve your life?

Or are you giving your power away, avoiding decisions, staying stuck, allowing others to decide for you, or making excuses for why you are where you are in your life?

If it's the latter, it's okay. It's okay, because that gets to change now. You get to change that.

When you have the awareness and the understanding that where you are in life, everything you have, is a direct result of the decisions you've made in the past, you realise that's incredibly powerful, because it means you get to make decisions moving forward that impact your life in a positive way, that intentionally create the life you desire.

It can be super triggering though, to hear that for the first time! To allow yourself to fully sink into the idea that things in your life that bring you pain or stress are a direct result of your decisions, your energy, your focus.

Once you move through the triggered reaction... that's where the fun starts!

Want to know 1 small change that's made a big difference in my life?

I ditched the TV, stopped zoning out to Netflix & choose my audiobooks intentionally.

Hold up, I know what you're thinking! I'm NOT here to tell you to give up your downtime, that you have to be hyper focused & constantly productive, or never binge on Netflix again - definitely not!

What I am saying is that I took stock of the time I was spending on those things, got really clear on what I wanted to achieve & how I wanted to feel & created balance that allowed time for those things, without allowing them to be time-wasters.

Netflix is now an 'on occasion' thing & I always have 1 purely for pleasure audiobook on the go.

The rest of the time?

I switched to personal growth books, podcasts, business trainings & people who inspire me. I LOVE learning, probably part of why I became a teacher, so when I switched from mindlessly consuming mainstream noise, I found myself in a much more productive, passionate, happy, motivated mindset.

The balance will be different for everyone, but in this current climate of extreme fear, coercion & propaganda, it's essential we take stock of what we're taking in & create balance that promotes peace, gratitude, abundance & joy. After all, what we vibrate, we attract, & even our physical wellbeing suffers when we sit in those low-vibes.

The prompt for this post? I finished another amazing audiobook yesterday from the incredible Rachel Rodgers. "We Should All Be Millionaires: A woman's guide to earning more, building wealth & gaining economic power" was released in May this year & is the power anthem that every woman who's ever dreamed of more needs!

Narrated by Rachel herself, her fun, straight-talking manner shines through & it's one of those rare books on money that actually give you practical tips, as well as motivation & a way to tap into a new, millionaire mindset. It's a book for women, it's a book to shift us, help us break free of so many 100s of years of restriction, oppression, patriarchy & lack of self-worth. It's a book to inspire & stoke the fire!

Do you go after what you want?

Or are you stuck in your excuses?

I used to be all about the 'don't haves;' thankfully things are different now!

I had 1 of those moments last week where the Universe shows you just how far you've come. I joined a beautiful women's circle held by She Gathered & being with the incredible women holding space for each other allowed me to see just how much I've shifted & grown since becoming a mum & choosing to follow my dreams. One of the questions we explored was how to know what you want & find what lights you up.

Our thoughts...

Find the feeling, the excitement & joy in that thing you want to keep doing over & over.
Forgive yourself for what hasn't worked in the past, those were all lessons leading you further on your path towards what's meant for you.
Give yourself grace to accept you can't do ALL of the things, ALL of the time, especially as a Mumma. It's not making excuses, it's setting boundaries & priorities to ensure you don't burn yourself out.
Make time for yourself! You can't know what you truly desire & enjoy if you're constantly doing, surviving & hustling to make ends meet & get s**t done.

Today is the last day here in Queensland & while I've spent the day prepping for back to school (the joy of lesson plans, marking & reports), I've also reflected on the last 2 weeks.

As usual, it's flown by! We've done a lot of gardening, caught up with friends, played, rested, I've enjoyed child-free catch-ups with wine, food & women's circles, & I've been working on some new business offerings - almost ready to launch!

I've also been helping on a family project. It's been big, but it's finally finished & will launch soon! I'm so proud of the everything I've created to help bring it to the world & I can't wait to see it become a roaring success!

So yep, while the holidays have been busy, it's been a nice balance between working on projects, taking time for myself & enjoying the slower pace with the kids.

This is the life I'm working to build for us full time. It's why I've chosen to create multiple online income streams.

She would scratch until she bled. Her back, stomach, & limbs were raw & she cried in her sleep. There is nothing more harrowing for a mum than watching your child suffer through something you can't prevent. Audrey has dealt with allergies her whole life, but it wasn't until she went to daycare at 1 year old that the eczema turned up. We had managed her diet, gone low-tox, & were all about natural alternatives at home, but at daycare, she was exposed to harmful toxins, processed food, & carers who couldn't seem to understand that when they slipped up, she suffered. At 2 years old, she was covered in angry patches & I was beside myself. I was pregnant with Harvey & heartbroken that I was letting my little girl down by not being able to fix this. So many people, including doctors, told us to just use steroid creams, medication & bleach baths, but my intuition & research told me those were bandaid solutions. After seeing an allergist who supported our desire to find the root cause & use natural options, we went on a strict elimination diet to determine other trigger foods, found natural products that worked & learnt about ways to minimise environmental irritants. This helped enormously! But it didn't clear completely. Fast forward to March 2020. Audrey was 3 & Harvey had arrived. I desperately didn't want to go back to work full time & endure the heartache & stress of daycare all over again, with 2 kids this time, so I needed a way to make money from home. I found this business. I also found, unintentionally, the missing cog in our health & low-tox journey. The last piece of the puzzle in clearing Audrey's eczema once & for all. Water.
